That emerald fuzz is awesome. I totally understand the Fuzzface dial your guitars volume down, clean it up thing. And the Sag/bias is as awesome as expected, I have it totally down to splatter, but the silicon and lack of a tone knob make it very in your face and cutting. Neil Young on meth?

Anyone tried a VHT Melo-verb?

Leela and me got in a fight over a bone and she made me bleed twice at the bar. If I didn't own this creature, I'd so be eating it... TIL Not Ready For Kids!!!

I just discovered this device and it kind of blows my mind. I wonder how it sounds with bass; anyone have any experience?


Fuzz faces and I have a turbulent relationship. They are brutal and awesome, but I just don't want to turn my volume down. I really don't like fiddling with my bass onstage beyond maybe a slight tone roll off or switching to the bridge with the T40. It becomes a pain in the arse if I want to switch the pedal on and off quickly.

Saw those not long ago in the initial stages of fuzz face hunting. It seems interesting, but also like a really pricey less accurate expression pedal. If I had the funds, why not. Though he made a new fat FF, and a zodiac version that did something else to tempt me too.


Lately I've not picked up the bass. Probably haven't since I got the SG and started the guitar journey again. So I didn't try the fuzz face on bass yet. The using the volume on the guitar I think is supposed to allow you to keep the fuzz face always on, and you just glide up the fuzz as needed. A like small turn on the SG neck pickup volume had it "clean" enough for me and was still acceptable volume, back up and it was raging. Then keep the UD at the end to add to it. Gonna get VHT melo-verb too, it's a combo tremolo and reverb pedal, it'll go before the UD.

Tuner - FF - slapback - UD > amp

$40 epi SG the middle of the road one. Says its in Fort Worth (45 min away). I call and they say they are in Denton but about to go to Arlington (1 hour away). If I get the cash and meet them at wal mart it's good. So get cash 15 min later and texting them I'm 5 min away and they say they are already in Arlington and go silent and hang up the phone...?

Fuzz Faces, specifically GE ones, remain my favorite fuzzes. I should seriously finish soldering together the new internals on mine. They retain no low end, but they're vicious and gnarly and almost synthy with a bass. Not that I have that much low end when I play bass anyways...


Also, payment sent, Rickenbacker 4001v63 headed my way Monday. Stoked.

So last weekend this guy bought a pedal off me on Reverb. Before I could ship it he submitted a request for a refund, with a long explanation about family issues and stuff, which I granted without issue. I had to request to have my 5 star feedback left for him removed, which our very own Ron actually helped me with. Then this week the guy buys it again, with an immediate message letting me know he's sorry and he's really buying it this time. I told him fine, but I'm withholding feedback until it arrives to him. It does, I leave him feedback and he just messaged me with "why only 4 stars?".

So in an attempt to diversify my stuff I'm selling the bronco tomorrow as the bass vi covers that role better. The stock pickup goes back in and the rail goes into the lap steel.

as for the bronco cash. I'm looking to get a bass for really laid back thumpy playing. Rondo beatlebass with tapewounds? Or their kala Clone? Do those silicon strings last long?

Any other ideas on the sub $200 thumpy weird bass front? Short scale appreciated of course.

I saw one that needed work but he added photos and the body had some terrible cracks. But it was 24" scale soo cool. Others just unsure at the price point. All the ones Local are $$$ and online you can't tell if they'll blow.

I saw these Fernandez nomad basses, the speaker part begs to be ripped out and actives installed. They are a tad pricey too for what looks really cheap.

Rondo is so dang cheap too, even cheaper via Amazon if you check both to be sure.

I have an old Japanese double cutaway hollow body with two singles. I believe it is like 28 or 30" scale, can't remember at the moment. It needs work. The tuners kind of suck, needs a complete rewire(that's going to be a PITA because hollowbody) and it needs a bridge. Some yokel in its past ownership tossed the original bridge and put a cheap fender style bridge on. The string spacing is wider than the neck leaving the g string as a trapeze cable. I got it as a project bass and probably paid more than I should have, but it's a super cool little bass.

I'll post pics later.


On topic: does anyone know of a fender drop in that can be adjusted for super tight spacing? I'm thinking hipshot, but can't remember how tight they get and I'm not sure if 17mm is close enough.
