Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I have an old Japanese double cutaway hollow body with two singles. I believe it is like 28 or 30" scale, can't remember at the moment. It needs work. The tuners kind of suck, needs a complete rewire(that's going to be a PITA because hollowbody) and it needs a bridge. Some yokel in its past ownership tossed the original bridge and put a cheap fender style bridge on. The string spacing is wider than the neck leaving the g string as a trapeze cable. I got it as a project bass and probably paid more than I should have, but it's a super cool little bass.

I'll post pics later.

On topic: does anyone know of a fender drop in that can be adjusted for super tight spacing? I'm thinking hipshot, but can't remember how tight they get and I'm not sure if 17mm is close enough.

Maybe you can just buy this set of the threaded saddles if they will work with the stock bridge.

Top row at the end.

Happy Monday, dudes! Debut Heavycraft gig was fantastic! Good turnout, good sound, we played well and it should only get better from there. We're back at it doing a weeknight local support gig in Iowa City on Wednesday. I'm following that up with MDT gigs on Fri-Sat. No rest for the wicked. Then gigs the next three weekends, too. It's good to busy!

AD200 > Fridge > Sheehan OD > Volt Thrower was am effective combo.

Hey guys. Band practice tonight, super hyped for it, have 4 new songs to work through. Recording some upright for s friend, have to practice like crazy to find my intonation again.

Oh I went on a real live date this weekend. Cool girl, smart, and attractive. We were talking and she says three things that pretty much had my heart stop

  • She is Polish
  • She "always falls for the bass player."
  • She. Loves. Metal.

VHT melo-verb purchased with Polara sale. Basically it's a 60's fender outboard reverb in digital form and a fender analog tremolo circuit.

The Joyo d-seed has again sprung my interest.

The preset feature is the interesting part, but I can't tell, does it remember your A and B setting even after being turned off? Or does it have to be reset every time?

It remembers your A/B settings. That Melo-verb sounds sweet.

Well hot dog, I can have slapback and reverse.

In terrible news, my damaged toenail is now hanging on by only one side. I created a toe condom From the corner of a plastic bag to hold it in place in shoes until it falls off completely...

Damn that is no fun. I had an unsecured hundred pound artillery round break my big toe during a fire mission. I just kept it wrapped all the time till it fell off.

I got stomped with a clear in football back in highschool, didn't think anything of it. After practice I took my shoe off and my sock was full of blood. In a panic I pulled it off, and it took the whole nail with it. Sucks, but it regrew after a couple of months...

I am cautiously optimistic.

I crushed my big toe by putting it under a metal frame of a chair I then sat on when I was 16. Now my right toe is wider and the nail is a bit disfigured too. Yay me.

Here's to hoping she likes her kielbasa both fresh and in the can!

I gotta see that bass in proper lighting. That blue/tort/white pups combo looks rad in my mind's eye, though.

Simply ask, and you shall receive (two weeks later...)
