For guitar I meant to say. Well 99% of the reason I am looking.

Though I dunno what changes between bass and guitar comps?

Starting from bottom up on the guitar rig. Trying to get that thicker, darker tone. So far I've boosted bass by about an "hour", cut mids by half an "hour" and kept treble in tact (noonish). Enjoying it so far. Clean channel is still clear and defined without mud, and the Supercollider is beefier too, without as much harshness. Probably helps I re-EQ'd that as well. Drastically lowered mids, lowered tone slightly, kept mass, raised gain and volume. Sounds a lot better. I can tweak the other two pedals fairly easily to get my tones I want from them, so I consider this a success.

One questions - it seems that my OD/distortion/fuzz must be considerably higher volume wise than clean to cut it in a mix. Is this normal? I feel like I have to try and find settings that leave my lows in tact and at unity, but bring up the other frequencies as well. It's hard to describe. Basically, is perceived unity volume in a mix more than unity solo when going from clean to dirty? Seems like it is on my rigs. Hope this makes sense, and that it's not just me.

Yeah, I usually end up setting the dirt pedal to be a good bit louder than the clean.

What amp and guitar are you using?
