Yeah, I'm a total noob at DIY builds. At least for electronics. OK with basic woodworking stuff (made my own pedalboards and other odds and ends for band room), but would be overwhelmed by the idea of a pedal. The most I've done is rewired an input jack on a guitar and soldered in some leads that had gone loose inside a pedal. Creating one from scratch would likely be a total mess. Unless one giant glob of solder around a PCB would work.
Dumble made a sh!t load of money doing just that.

Messaged them, but I actually have the guys number I'm pretty sure. Was gonna buy a Hondo II ric from him last weekend, but i got cold feet when a few things didn't sell and I'd have to put up "real cash".

Don't really need a non functioning v-4 but I'll talk with him, he trades.

Third to last picture is a semi gut shot, and it's PCB based? I would have figured hand wired until like mid 80's?

They were doing pcbs as early as 1970, maybe earlier. The AC12 is pcb, it's from 1970.

It probably just needs caps and tubes, and would be worth some money if it was in perfect working order and ready to go for another 30 years.

Like you, the last thing I need is another project, but I'd be seriously considering this one if it was local to me.

Yea without shipping and if I can get it for $150 or less I'd be game.

If those transformers can still be purchased just in case...

Even then I bet someone could use a replacement head box and knobs etc parted out.

Haha, yeah i read about that guy. Dynacomp to jangle box mod is super easy to do, too.

Yea made me realize most "boutique" pedals are just famous store bought pedals with one or two common mods done. So then I got to thinking my new way of buying pedals is too look at what the boutique model offers vs the stock option.

A $149 nano jangle box vs a $80 vintage Dyna comp + mods is similar enough counting time. So then I looked up the most tweakable Dynacomp clone and it's the barber tone press that's about $149 too. So then I realize that's a worthy boutique as its cost is technically cheaper than me doing it myself.

That's why Joyo is bad ass, a used joyo can be totally overhauled and rehoused for way less than a premium pedal it clones and you can ad even more tweak ability at the same time.

Oh god, WANT. I'm dreaming because short $, but what color and how much?

One of the best basses I ever owned was an unbranded bolt-neck Ric copy, probably from same factory that produced the Ibby and Hondo clones.

Someday hope to find something similar. Preferred that copy to actual Rics I've played...

What's the red color Burst called?

Last Friday we made a deal, $400 or $275 plus a trade I had. Great deal, but as badly as I wanted it, I didn't want to spend my cash, so I told him if I sold stuff quickly I'd buy it, but by the time I had cash I ready on Monday my gas flickered and when I just looked the ads gone.

Edit: whenever events like this occur, I just remind myself in the scheme of things I tend to be pretty lucky and score great gear cheap on the reg, so I just assume the day will come where I'll get one for an even better deal.

Also I like that color least, and stick to 6 stringed stuff lately.
