Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Hey guys, long time thread lurker (yeah, Im the creepy guy in the hoody standing just in the background......).
Anyway, trying to really sort my playing/theory/writing out after a few years of no band etc.
How do you guys go about it?
What keeps you motivated?
Creative proccesses etc?

Also , congrats on being the least judgemental, friendliest group on TB.

Its deliecious. Very fresh food, a range of spicy flavors and very interesting take on burritos. My bum is never left intact.

One thing you could do is tube head->speaker DI-> small cab and take the DI to the power amp, so you get the toob toanz, but also the big power. I run a mini version of this by taking my EBS' DI out to my LM2, then run the EBS into a 210 and the LM2 into my 410. The 410 will drown out the 210 under normal circumstances, and speaker number and such would have to scale to your situation, but the basic theory is sound.

I'm currently using the Focusrite Clarett 8Pre, which replaced the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 I used for years. I have zero complaints, it works very well and the hype about almost no latency to the point of being able to software monitor with plug-ins holds up for me so far.

For me, it's literally just sitting down and playing. Some days NOTHING comes. Some days it's flowing. I literally know nothing of theory. If I'm stuck I'll go listen to something in the vein I'm working towards and critically listen to how certain feels are made. Also, for me, pedals are a huge help. Some days im playing just my amp and everything is uninspired, then I pull out a fuzz, or my space echo and suddenly I hit on a vibe that makes me run with it. Sometimes one fuzz leaves me cold, but a different one hits the spot that day. I don't know the mysteries of the muses, I just try to tap their asses when they swing by!

Yeah, I sadly don't get enough loud time at the moment so the pedals are mostly unused. Should have that remedied in a couple of months though.
Currently finding myself playing old songs or motown/funk but not getting anything written.

Well I was supposed to go to a party last night but before I got there a guy who wasn't invited showed up and pulled a gun on people (accidentally shooting himself in the foot in the process). He got over taken, then the gun of already dubious origin found a new bearer. As it disappeared in the scuffle to take him down apparently.

Miss all the crazy parties...

My bun guy quit yesterday because no one could give him a ride home. Hint: he didn't ask anyone that I told him to ask and chose to wait an additional 5 hours for another Mexican to give him a ride.

So, I got to make the buns last night. This isn't all of them but I figured you guys would like to see my buns.

Uber/taxi, bus, bike... Or feet (unless it's a long unfriendly walk for 15 miles).
