Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

There's a movie tavern in town. Also Austin then Texas has the Alamo draft house (now expanding out of state.)

Drive in would be best, much easier to be a smuggler. Don't need a lady with an unreasonably large purse.

There's supposedly an X rated drive in a couple hours from me. That would be hilarious to see.

From taking Bettie's to drive-ins back in the day I remember all drive-ins being somewhat X rated.

@dcarwin Songs sound good to me man, similar to the style I like to write in most of the time. I usually say heavy rock to the uninitiated. You could call that doom, stoner metal, sludge or a half dozen other related sub-genres depending on the vocal style and how you market it ;)

Thanks Corey. We're (halfheartedly) looking for a singer, and makes sense that the vocals/style will have a serious impact on how we label ourselves.

Aaaand my bosses ended my job right before the holidays...

Time to hunt again.

Me and you both brother, me and you. Merry fvckin xmas to our bosses.

If want to get in to the Pro Audio / MI industry start looking for rep firms. I can help you find places if you want, just shoot me a PM.

Get me a job with Peavey...or endorsed...

There's a local band that labels themselves as Twang-Poop.

They're called Cribsh*tter.

GH is playing with them and a pirate metal band for a Mead and greet at High Noon Jan 2nd. That show be an interesting show.

DA MACE is now added to the ever growing brokdid pile...its not sounding right. Theres no sustain, almost like theres a noise gate, the notes kinda fizzle out and the break up is unpleasant and fizzy. And most noticeably its not painfully loud anymore, my lesser watt SS heads are much louder. REALLY hoping its not the tubes, but I'm thinking it is, bought the amp in like may-ish, guy told me they were brand new, but I do run it pretty hot and others have been borrowing it so it has been seeing a lot of use the past 7 months. Does that sound like the tubes are starting to go?

Wasn't the mace already in the shop before? What was done then?

When my power tubes went last time I had volume drops (on all channels) and a 60hz hum.

Sounds like tubes, though it could be caps too. They're old, they wear out. If it is tubes hit me up.

I busted the fuze holder loading it after a gig...That was fixed and the pots were cleaned/other small stuff.

Sent the guy I bought it from a message to see if he ever had it re capped. If he didn't, Ill send it in to have that and a full go through done. Ill see what they say about the tubes, then I guess if they say theyre bad, new tubes it is. Good thing though is that with fixed bias I can just swap them out myself.

So I missed out on that Mark III. I had to take my girlfriend to the doctor yesterday at noon for what was supposed to be a 15-20 minute appointment. She was seen after 45 minutes, but It ended up taking 4 **** hours with no notification. During that time my phone died. By the time I got home and was able to turn my phone in again, it was 15 minutes past the meetup time and I was 30 minutes away. Now the guy won't respond to me, which is understandable. I explained the situation to him but I guess he didn't care. I felt like a real *******. Bummer but oh well I guess.

Mk III's come and go. Better to take care of your lady.
