Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Mk III's come and go. Better to take care of your lady.

Absolutely. More than anything I was frustrated that I had to stand the guy up. We all hate when that happens to us and I was unfortunately "that guy".

Oh well. I didn't need the amp. I have a mountain of debt to tackle in 2016 and plans for another dually hat I will see through.

Also, the tube amps will be shelved. I've been slaving the svp into the beta and I had forgotten how awesome it sounds. It sounds REALLY good. Didn't even have to tweak my pedals. So a power amp is definitely in order. The beta may have to go to fund it because of said debt, which is a bummer, but that's life.

I busted the fuze holder loading it after a gig...That was fixed and the pots were cleaned/other small stuff.

Sent the guy I bought it from a message to see if he ever had it re capped. If he didn't, Ill send it in to have that and a full go through done. Ill see what they say about the tubes, then I guess if they say theyre bad, new tubes it is. Good thing though is that with fixed bias I can just swap them out myself.

Could be the the fixed bias resistor has drifted in spec.

But yea caps first/have it looked at. Honestly though open it and look inside at the caps. Avoid a bench fee as long as you can.

Hold off putting those new tunes in at all. If there is an issue last thing you need is to blow the new set.

Turned an old steel snare into a timbale. Dig that thing. Time to wrap my head and extremities around the 1-drop.

Was trying to learn some snare stuff, and found a thread where all the drummers try to define all these moves like rim shot, rim click etc. well no one had the same definition for anything and it's weird and hilarious. But also unhelpful as I read about genres and stylistic choices, and it's hard to match them if no one agrees on what those things are named.

I created a Doom station on Pandora, with choice seeds such as Pelican, Electric Wizard, Earthride, Om, and Pontiak. It was playing and finding lots of good stuff for a while, but these past two weeks it's been determined to give me nothing but 80's speed metal. W-Tee-eF? (edited: can't believe those letters are censored!)

This is why I'll never pay for a Pandora premium membership until they allow unlimited thumbs-downs.

Yea I had the same problem. It always wanted to play sabbath and Metallica. I like sabbath, but heard enough I want to hear new stuff. Nope sabbath even if I thumb it down. And Metallica I hate, but when
