I briefly considered buying their knockoff Ric doubleneck, but it's based off the Rutherford (Genesis) version and not a clone of Geddy's 4080. Plus I ain't sending like close to a grand to China. Then you factor in all the expense in upgrading it... fugg it.
Congrats. Sounds good to me, making me so nostalgic, like I jumped in a time machine, feel like I am back hanging out at my buddies house mid-80's, when I was 14, checking out his older brother's metal records collection.
Diggin' the creepy vox. Reminds me of a certain part of Rush's Caress of Steel. "The Necromancer" or perhaps "Fountain of Lamneth," I forget which track had that style in there. Did you pitch shift the vocal tracks for that effect? Also, I went straight to the track "Ships of Hell" based on the name alone.
No pitch shifting going on, lots of reverb and delay mostly.

Solid kit, Tama Rockstars are also decent quality and usually affordable used. Since they're in no short supply and a lot of people buy them to start playing and quit. I bought the one I had with hardware, cymbals, a throne and a bunch of extras for $350.
On the Fakenbacker.... I like the cumfort cut at the forarm but thats no reason to experement with trying to make it a player. Not interensted in sending money to China or support companies that make their products there. One of the reasons I'm not looking at Carvin for my next power amp. Now here is somthing that has been happenining more so keep your eye out for this bands gear. I have no affiliation but wanted to spread the word.

Funny yea $200-$400 seems to be the going rate, seems most bare kits with damage are the pricier ones. I'd dig the wrap, most are black (boring) or ugly maroon. I assume dudes who stuck to it bought and pieced together a badass kit and don't need the old thing taking up space and give the best deal with best extras.
The only new drumsets you'll see that include all the hardware and cymbals are bottom-of-the-barrel cheap ones. So it's pretty common to only see the shells for sale. Most drummers will update their shells, but keep their snare, cymbals and stands. I can see why - drums are shaging expensive, cymbals especially. Unless you really luck into a killer deal there's no way to cheaply get good cymbals. You almost always have to shell out big time, then eventually they'll crack and you'll have plunk down another couple of bills to get another cymbal. I love playing drums, but I don't miss always wishing that I could afford better cymbals. That sh*t sucked.

I really only need maybe a bass drum, snare, floor tom, high hat and crash I thinks. Not much room and I'm learning, and don't want to be a super dick to the neighburritos.
I really like toms, and tom based stuff. Demon cleaner by kyuss is one of my favorite songs for the drums.
If I had my way, I'd have a big marching bass drum, then 16", 18", 20" (or reg bass drum mebbe) as the toms, with marching snare. I like deep dark tribal/military cadence drums. I shared a Rogers kit a 20" zildjian ping ride, a 12" Wuhan china, a 16" sabian crash ride and these 13" paiste hi-hats for a bit. There was a no name $15 20" ride I got that was my personal favorite, besides the sabian and Wuhan. I didn't really know how to play much, but I liked using toms not as a fill but as a consistent part of the beat with less cymbals, but very washy trashy cymbals for big less defined sound than the lame $$$ ping ping ride.

nice job man, the recording i think sounds pretty good. really suits the vibe of the album i think.
NCD yesterday!!! Photobucket was down for whatever stupid reason and no pics no cab so I waited to post.
Got that Sonic Peavey 3620 clone...and it's amazeballs. Its loaded with brand new Peavey Lo Rider 18s and JBL 10s, so speaker wise alone it was worth the $300. Its my first 2 way cab and I can see the appeal compared to a full range cab. Running the Vulcan with it, the 18s bring thundering massive lows and the 10s bring that velvety fuzzy mids and highs I got on our recordings, so thats awesome. Was thinking about changing out speakers but that's a dumb idea after actually playing it. Tried many a speaker combination yesterday, 418s and 210s sounded good but I found 318s, 215s, and 210s sounded the best. The Vulcan through the Sonic and the Dunwich into my Acoustic power amp, the Peavey Festival power amp is not yet in working order, through the folded 18 and my EVM loaded 215. If I had a series/parallel box I could have added my 118 to the Dunwich side...TURN DOWN FOR WHAT!?!
