Stumbled onto Sunday Valley recently and that has me Jonesin for a p or jazz bass again. Been trying to learn more walking bass lines. Kind of want a passive V p or jazz because I love hitting the IV and V below the I instead of above the I. Thinking of just getting one of those Yamaha BB passive pj though they are a little fugly. Cheap but supposed to have a solid B string and solid build quality.
Another day off from work from the crappy roads. Sipping yerba mate, filling kava orders, and music. Maybe snow in the south ain't so bad.

I like snow, but nashville doesn't have the infrastructure to deal with the ice, especially. It's gonna be well into the 40's for the next few days, so it'll be a distant memory soon enough. During the storm on Friday a tree fell on the gf's new car. Spent yesterday digging the car out with chainsaws and loppers. Fortunately there was so much snow on the car it protected it quite a bit from the tree branches

So far I've preferred every bass I've ever had passive over active, but that's just me. As impressive as a J Retro is, I still preferred passive on the Lakland J I did a gig with. My new Custom Shop Jazz is active, so I'll give it an honest try, but most likely will rip the pre out, put in Fender CS 60 pickups and install a stack knob plate with a mini toggle for series/paralel

Breakfast at the hotel before hitting the airport for home.

Bought a tiny fuzz pedal from hall e yesterday. It's green so I'm hoping it's based on a green russian. We'll see.

Pretty great NAMM show this year. My team kicked some serious ass and i think it's going to result in some serious profit for the company.

Hung out with friends from Pearl Drums Saturday night, including Joey the lead guitarist of warrant. Super nice, smart as hell, all around great guy. He drove us back to our hotel after dinner. Cruising around orange county in a luxury car, cranking Stained Class with that guy was pretty surreal. I love this industry.

That sucks about the deerstrike @Pelham Bleu. I've seen some terrible wrecks from that, at least you're in one piece.

Sweet Jazz bass @dukeorock, I've been planning on replacing the last one I sold for years now and the funds just keep drying up.


Speaking of funds drying up. I still haven't sold my Thunderbird and I had reup our dental insurance already. So yeah, I am officially dead broke now. Like absolutely no cash savings left, the gear fund is depleted, savings almost dried up. The wife is at least making a little extra money babysitting and might be getting a part time work-from-home gig, doing some work for a local board of supervisor's reelection campaign. Times are tight though. No band, not for lack of trying, sold off a ton of gear and probably need to sell more before too long. So I haven't been posting all that much, as I'm pretty much just out of playing music now. Not by choice, just no free time, no money, no band, no leads on jamming. The only suggestion I keep getting is move or go to more shows to meet musicians. To which I reply, see the free time and money comment *shrug*. Hopefully I will be able to scrape together enough free time to make some progress on solo material this year.

Damn @dukeorock that is brutal. Growing up in PA dealing with snow seems worse in the south. The way it turns to ice and all that jazz and they just aren't prepared for it. My back is killing me from breaking up ice to clear a path to the road for work today. Wish I knew I was getting a snow day as now it is all melting and I could of skipped the hard work yesterday lol. I wish I lived back in Florida.

Fortunately, in the south the ice melts off pretty quick. It's just a few gnarly days a year, pretty much.
