Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Selling a couple hard cases and getting it Thursday or Friday, think he'll wiggle too.

Hopefully it handles a low B well. Had the 800rb before and used it with some gk 212's but they sucked and it was farty.

I'm sure there are individuals who would have strong opposing opinions about this, but it seems like GK's cabs have never been as popular as their amps. Most people I've seen/known who use and love them tend to use them with Ampeg cabs or something else similarly good/popular. The GK cabs always seemed along the line of the "make a box and throw a speaker in" variety that has been common from a lot of amp companies for decades. I haven't tried any of the newer ones recently though, I might be wrong about them now.

I bought a pair of mb212's to go with my gk head(s) at the time. They were neo speakers in column style boxes. Compact and badass in theory. But they were void of any insulation, the tweeters were loose and smacked around against the bare wood inside... Disasaddened to say the least. Sold and went dually.

So guitarist friend I've been jamming with as we cycle through a few drummers says we need to find a jam space as my place isn't cutting it...

He can't specify why it's not working, and I don't want to pay out for another room to practice in if we got one? Me and him already share a storage unit.

I have a room setup for it in my house, neighbor's don't care and we all live less than 3 miles from my house. Not to mention it's a house so there's The do whatever you want between jams part... Kitchen, tv, beer....... Etc.

What do you think?

you want to lose weight? come over and make out with me. this flu has been the worst I've ever had. haven't eaten in 3 days, couldn't even make it out of bed yesterday.

Most weight I lost in the shortest time was about 20lbs in roughly a week and a half. I got food poisoning while in Guatemala and then the flu. Hallucinating and stuff, not eating at all, drinking a little (couldn't keep much down). Went from 170lbs to 150lbs, my parents were pretty distressed by how I looked upon my return. Best diet ever.

I think he needs to 'splain what the problem is, or he can pay the rental fee.

My parents house in Iowa smells like mildew from all the books moldering away in the damp basement, but they don't notice because they've lived there the whole time. In the meanwhile my odor-sensitive wife can barely stand to set foot in the place.

Hasn't anyone had the guts to offer you a bottle of bleach and point out the pungent, pervasive cum smell? ;) Ha ha j/k

Well this particular guy recently got trained for a job then let go day one because he didn't wear deodorant. So if my place smells, he's def not worried about it.

i was at the bass hang in north hollywood on sunday and i think i found probably the only bass that i would consider getting rid of all my basses to get, the olinto by la bella p basses had action so low that they actually blew my mind and the natural wood one has been haunting me ever since, i'm never like this

Not even a "punch out, go to Walgreen's and buy some shaging deodorant" warning? That's some ********.

Worked with a guy that reeeeeeked of cheap cologne, it was bothering everyone but no one wanted to say anything so I finally broached the topic with him in private so he wouldn't be embarrassed. Turns out he was trying to cover up weed smell. I said something along the lines of "don't smoke blunts/joints and wash your hands when you come back in from a smoke break, no one will smell it. That shaging awful cologne was ten times worse that herb stank. Also no one at work cared about the toking.

Put the deltas in the peavey cab and added 2" foam to the back wall. HUGE improvement. It was handling everything the V4B could throw but boy were those speakers jumping. I'd honestly be concerned about blowing them with my board in the chain. They sound great though. The cab doesn't hold a candle to the dually, but for $160 in speakers and $10 worth of foam in a basically free cab, I'm very pleased. It's also cool to run the Ampeg at 2 ohms.

Don't suppose I'll ever know the whole story. I know he can smell pretty bad at times, but he's usually clean when he comes round here. Now he went to record an album in Florida and literally spent an entire week in one set of clothes and never showered or brushed his teeth he said. Glad I wasn't sharing a suburban with him.

Gotta finish sanding my joyo trem case and add the new pot for the shape. Been just using the jaguar > tuner > ISP > Rockmaster.

Gonna do p pickup > trem > bassballs > Bluebeard > ISP

J pickup > tuner > grey spec > *potential second ISP*

Or each can just be used as a separate "board". Maybe loop them so the J side can just link with others and be the first two in the chain...

Now in guitar/bass vi whatever land. Straightforward long chain being built, currently actually using a tuner/Dano/behringer smaller setup. This will eventually be tuner > compressor > modded wah > bad monkey > fixed and modded for expression pedal synth > joyo D seed delay > Fuzzface clone > boss rv-2.

400rb tomorrow will replace rockmaster. Then I'll get 4 ohm bassic speaker and they can both play on it and I'll save/flip for a 300+ watt head for the dually.

Yeah. GKs sound pretty good through a Sunn cab, I've found.

The upside of a jam space is that it forces you to be more focused when you're there, because you're paying for it and so don't want to be wasting money if you're not using it or just goofing off. The downside, of course, is that you have to pay for it.

***? Dude lives in Texas and doesn't wear deodorant? shag's wrong with him?

...

I honestly wouldn't be in a band with someone like that.
