They're talking about something different, the feature on the DK you're using is a gate/boost which boosts up the gain and adds a noise gate.

They were talking about adding a second drive knob, so you could switch from a lower gain to higher gain setting via footswitch.

Thanks for the advice, dudes. Its very much appreciated.

I'm seriously weighing up my options right now and I'm leaning way more towards just ditching both of them completely. The drummer is great and probably the most solid and creative drummer I've ever played with but his personality can get on my nerves at times. He's not a very lighthearted person and takes the smallest of comments to heart. For example, I jokingly put up on our Facebook event that I wasn't going. People got the joke but he didn't seem too amused. Gave me an earful over the phone telling me I should act more professionally and worry about bringing people to the show rather than joking about it.

Ultimately my dilemma right now is whether or not I really should pack my poopie and go or if I should stick it out and tolerate the band until something better comes along. Sydney is a wasteland for anything other than metalcore/deathcore/hardcore bands so I may be inactive on the music front for a long time at worst. It still may be worth the risk if this band continues to let itself down, though.

Cheers Janitor. I'm not worried if they see anything I've posted here for many reasons but if they somehow figure out who I am on the board (let alone find the board in the first place) and decide to boot me, it probably wouldn't be the worst thing in the world lol.

Yeah, i know the feeling.

I'm lucky that there's a lot of people in this little town that are into stoner rock and doom. I remember what it was like when that wasn't the case, it sucked.

I think that more people are into it now than ever before, so maybe you'll be surprised when you start looking for new band opportunities. It helps that you're not a guitar player, too.

The doom scene is definitely picking up. The Conan tour has already amassed close to 1,000 confirmed attendees and its only been a day since it was announced. Its bigger down in Melbourne and surprisingly Perth but Sydney's a little slow to the party. My mate who pulled the strings to bring Conan down here is in the band which is supporting Conan nationally - Yanomamo. They were originally from Sydney but dropped everything and moved to Melbourne and its really helped boost their prospects. Bigger shows, bigger crowds and even hosting opportunities. But in saying that, there are a handful of bands in Sydney like Arrowhead and Summonus who are insanely good. Both have supported the likes of Sleep, High on Fire and Monster Magnet on their national tours.

I put a few ads up this morning so I'm hoping to get some bites sooner or later. I'm going to talk to the grunge band over the weekend and pretty much tell them straight up that I'm going to be looking at working on other projects that I'm happy making music for. They can do what they want with the information but I'm not gonna dance around the topic anymore.

that's good to know. i have been considering the move to melbourne for a while.

side note, totally unsurprising about perth - full of new zealand and aussie bogans working mining jobs..

Yeah, probably not for long though. The mining boom is starting to show signs of slowing down and Perthians are scared about what's gonna happen at the end of the year. Lots of people have already felt a sting and have had to sell their ridiculously massive houses for smaller ones becauyse they can't make their payments.

Then you read over on the Super Bassman 300 threads and go dammit I want some of that too.

$1255 for summer daycare up front for three months kicked my ass. Thats not even every day covered morning to evening...Several 9 to 3 days in there too... Could have been $1800.

Good part is I'll be spending more time with her this summer. She has the songs from Frozen stuck in her head. Keeps singing them on the way to and from school. Glad my kid is into music. Taking her to go see Ian Anderson in September. Need to school her on some Thick as a brick and Aqualung beforehand.
