Ouch, that stings. But at least you'll have the summer with her. My goddaughter is also obsessed with Frozen and she replays it 500 times a day. I'm amazed the DVD hasn't worn out by now.

Why would you let a singer into the band who only shags things up?Welp, my gig tonight probably couldn't have gone any worse. Guitarist/vocalist breaks both his bottom E and A strings half way into the first song. I tell him to just pull out his backup but he tells me he didn't bring it. So what does he do? Proceeds to restring his guitar on stage. In an attempt to make the situation less awkward, the drummer and I locked into a nice filler groove with the use of my flanger. Tell you what, I was considering offloading the BF-3 these last few days but now its pretty much earned permanency on my board haha.
So the guitarist decides "I'm taking too long here" and just flat out leaves out the A string and doesn't bother to tune up the E string properly. As you can imagine, that made for some absolutely laughable riffing and chords. We crank into the next song and, lo and behold, the singer decides to scream every line for absolutely no legitimate reason. That and any actually sung lines were so off and so terrible, I literally had to look away from the audience out of embarrassment. He then belts out this horrid broken scream at the end of a mellower song which made me, and I'm sure many others, wince. After that song ended I actually heard a woman in the crowd say "Wow, even HE's shocked by it" presumably making reference to me.
To add insult to injury, the sound guy tells us over the monitors that we have one more song to play. At this point, we had only played three songs and been on stage for a total of 20 minutes of our 30 minute slot. Any other gig I would have cracked the ***** but considering the circumstances, I was thrilled to be getting off the stage that soon. We finished our set and I tore down my gear the fastest I ever have.
My only consolation about tonight is that I was able to do a little improv which I never thought I was able to pull off. It sounded good, I locked in with the drummer brilliantly and we even got some kind words for it after our set. A couple of members from the other bands came up to us and said things like "Nice save" and asked me about my effects. Of course, one of them asked "So what's up with your singer? He on something?" to which I replied "Unfortunately, no. That's just him".
So yeah..bit of a wall of text but I just felt like venting a little. What cuts me the most is that I know the vocalist/guitarist isn't going to take anything away from this experience and he's just gonna keep ****ing things up because apparently not giving a **** makes him look cool. There's no hope for him and unfortunately I've learned that far too late. I don't particularly like being on the end of a joke (which is what I feel manly people look at this band as) and I fear this crap is gonna hurt my reputation personally, which I normally wouldn't admit to caring about but if I want to take my music seriously then I suppose I need some sort of dignity). I'm gonna put myself out there to join a new band that I'd enjoy playing for. Once that's locked in, I'm ditching old mate's band for the better.
My overdriven sound is also always louder than my clean. It confuses me somewhat when people don't do this, because I feel that the point of clean tone is to have parts that are quieter and so make the distorted parts seem louder in comparison. Also I tend to just get my "clean" tone by turning down my bass' volume on my one-pickup bass, or switching to a lower output pickup on my two-pickup basses.the high/low dual gain setting on a demon (or rat tail) works if you want your "cleaner" gain to be lower in volume than your "heavier" gain.
I've always setup my distortion to be louder than my clean tone, so this never really bothered me. Gave the appropriate amount of boost when going from low gain to high gain. But everyone likes different things obviously.
I pretty much tune to either E standard or B standard. I'm kinda closed minded that way, I guess. I suppose partly because I don't want to go having to figure out strings.Getting way ahead of myself and wondering if I should pick up a Squier P or J 4 banger for the new project. I doubt we'll be in B or E standard - yes I could transpose and use the 5er - but I like hammering away on those open strings. Theoretically I could sell my Rat and pay for low-end squier w/ my employee discount.
Tell them to turn down their clean volume? It drives me nuts when guitarists set their cleans as loud as their overdriven tone. Makes the latter seem really lacking when they change over.I'm fully with you in theory, but in practice (and this is probably because your band mates are far better at dynamics than mine) the volume diff is too great for me if I want one knob at three o'clock and the other at nine for example. I either can't hear myself on clean, or crush my mates and invoke their whine-age on dirty.![]()
Monster cab alert!

Never seen one of these before. 2x10&4x12 in one cabinet.
up since 4am for no good reason. going to be a long day.
People do this without children?Right there with you, I woke up at 5:30 and we're driving to Disneyland right after work.
People do this without children?
Really not knocking it I just don't understand. Does Disneyland have more adult oriented stuff than Disney world?
I've known several couples that do this sans children and none have explained it to me.
Seriously no troll.

You are a better man than me LOL. Sometimes I will be at Busch Gardens with a full blow migraine and I am that guy/toddler. Two weekends back we went and they had this cool flight simulator movie experience things that you fly all around Europe. I should of known better since I had a migraine cooking but they talked me in to it. Well I get a bit of vertigo with migraines, and that flight simulator was tossing me all around and it was super hot inside so I got all sick, dizzy, and lightheaded feeling. I didn't grump and once the ol lady saw how sick I was so all I had to do was picture duty after that. I did keep saying you know if I got a bug zapper and put up some hammocks in the yard I would like it even better than being here during the summer, she raised one eyebrow...My wife loves Disney, it's her birthday tomorrow and she wants to go on some sort of vacation before the baby is due in August.
We went to Disneyworld for our 10th anniversary. She has 4 older sisters and most of them are obsessed with Disneyland and go frequently with their kids, but would go if they had none. I don't care about Disney, but I have the attitude that if I'm going somewhere to have fun, I show up ready to have fun, relax and not worry about anything. I don't want to be one of those dads/husbands grouching their way through a vacation like a giant sarcastic toddler.
He also wanted me to work at a shrimp farm in the keys.
