Thanks! Still smoking cigarettes. It's the last thing on my list. I'm already seeing how much I'm saving from not partying. There should be a nice increase in savings when I quit smoking. But I'm still holding on. I need to switch to vaping. I have all the stuff to do it. It's just... you know.

MPulse should be showing up today!! Pretty excited.
I finally tried those new Daddario NYXL They feel really good out of the package.

Anyone have any experience with the Neunaber Immerse or EQD Afterneath?

What's the difference between them and regular XLs?

I have the Afterneath, cool pedal but it does add some weird artifacts to the high end. Nothing you'll notice live but it did not translate well to the studio. The best way I can describe it is that it has a bit of a lo-fi sound. It also suffers from a lack of master volume, i wish pedal makers would include it on every pedal, so it can be difficult to make it heard. I only ever use it when the bass is on it's own or bass and drums at most. Once the guitar kicks in it's pretty useless.

I can't remember the last time I played XLs. So I'm not the best person to ask. haha. String noise is tame and they feel nice (not super stiff). They kind of remind me of the Circle K strings I tried 5 years ago. I'm not really a big string guy and I don't change them as often as I should.

Ok, cool. Yeah, this would be for intros, outros and spacey parts. Although the guitar I'm playing with is all mids and he enjoys some spacey stuff that buries everything.

I should probably find a decent Reverb and Delay. Something I can do ISIS things all the way to Stars of the Lid things. If I can keep it around $250 ish would be nice.

Ok, cool. Yeah, this would be for intros, outros and spacey parts. Although the guitar I'm playing with is all mids and he enjoys some spacey stuff that buries everything.

the afterneath works well for spacey parts and the drag feature is pretty unique for a reverb. i think you'd like it.

DG have a very distinct voicing. a little thin in the mids with lots of top end bite. best suited for high output pickups. they are pretty "hi-fi" sounding dirt pedals.

I don't use reverb pedals in the studio, because studio reverb can be added.

The EHX Holy Grail doesn't have a volume... or really any controls, other than "amount," either.

Ah, okay. I use the regular D'Addario nickel XLs. Have for like... a decade, now. Maybe I should try to get some sort of good customer deal from them or something.

It's definitely cool. Just too complex and expensive for me. Since I mainly use reverb in intros, interludes, and noise parts, it's a lot to spend and a lot of tweaking to do for reverb.

Buy a Dunwich pedal. You won't regret it.

There's a local band looking to fill their vacant bass slot (TWSS) and I'm tempted to try them out because, #1 it could be a somewhat fun, low-stress gig and #2 practice is never a bad thing.....their music is ok, nothing boner-inducing. I listened to their demo's, and the guitar player's tone is bad. Not 'we recorded it lousy' bad, but he uses cheezey-FX-as-part-of-his-tone bad, whereas if he left it off or changed it slightly it would be a 100% improvement. I think that if I joined up I would eventually start making producer level comments, make it high stress and get myself kicked out.....

I guess I just answered my own question.

You could throw a couple decent pedals in your bag and have him demo them during a jam. Maybe you can get him hooked on good dirt instead of easy-cheese.

There was a keyboard player a band that I sometimes play with used to occasionally have play for them.

He was a good player but used the stupidest, most cheesy sounds. Couldn't stand it.
