8string bass... humm... never had one, hard to come by, mostly... weirdo aestheticly....

I'm thinking stoner bluesish stuff.

Ravish Sitar is not what I'm looking for. Maybe the bass Signal thru a "scooped" sansamp-style pre (I have a Dr. J) and octave up (Mooer Tender) with a sh*tload of distortion will do the trick.

Meanwhile, the on-going craigslist comedy hour continues. I got turned down for an audition because I 'didn't have enough experience'.....which was funny to me because I started playing bass in the late '80s. I called the guy out on this and his song changed to 'you don't have enough stage presence'. Get da fu outta here.

Tracking some guitar parts for my band tonight.
One guitarist just picked up a peavey penta, I've been wanting to mess with one for years cause they look so rad haha. I'm very impressed with it so far. Especially cause he got it for like $300. Don't ever see it getting much love anywhere.

Anyone know the absolute maximum runtime for a single 33 LP?

Max 25 according to Chicago. Quality declines as you squish in more grooves per unit space.

12" @33 1/3 RPM:
OPTIMAL - 16 to 20 minutes per side
MAXIMUM - 25 minutes per side

But getting others to do it is easier and makes for better conversation.

Anyway, like I said on FB, the Dustern record should fit, but only just. If we cut out all the silent bits at the beginning and end of songs, it should clock in at just under 48 minutes. We could also fade out the last song a bit faster.

Yeah 25 minutes is pushing it and there's two big factors I know of that impact run time. Volume and quality. You can fit a lot on one side, but the volume or quality (grooves) would be reduced. Granted I rarely ever crank past 75% volume on my stereo, but it can be important...especially to some who like it real heavy.

Also you apparently lose a lot of quality (Hi-Fi I think), or at least high end freqs when you get closer to the center of the record. They would do a ton of engineering and song arranging back in the day for records. You'll notice for some they would have quieter tracks at the end of a side. It's due to the angle of the needle as it gets closer to the center if I remember correctly.

Yup, hell I think you can fit 6-7 minutes a side on a 7" at 33rpm, but it'll be like -6db from the Masters.
