Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I Kind of ordered one like this from the maker in the uk. but with maple fretboard. this is gonna be one mean machine.

Alder Body
Maple Neck
Mojotone Thunderbird Pickup
Best of both worlds

That's wicked looking! I've got a build I'm slowly working on that's gonna use a pair of chrome Tbird pups. Post some clips of it if you can, when ya get it.

That's nice! I'm a big fan of T-bird pick-ups. My main player for a few years was a Cataldo with a Thunderbucker Ranch '63. Doesn't have quite the overpowering lows of the G&L MFDs, but hard to beat for clank and snarl!!!

So Dustern's second recording session got off to a rocky start today.

I went outside to find that my van's rear tire was flat.

And then got a text from my cousin, the guitarist, that his car had been broken into and whoever did it stole his pedalboard.

Despite this, we got a lot of work done. The drummer picked me and my gear up, and we borrowed a tube screamer from one of the guitarists in Catapult.

Our singer got all the vocals done, and we fixed some bass mistakes and got most of the guitar doubletracking done (using my Sunn Concert Lead that normally I use as a backup bass head).

Pretty productive day.

Oh man, a flat is a pain but getting robbed is worse, I feel bad for your guitarist.
Glad to hear the day turned around and you all got some good work in. Looking forward to hearing the final product.

Man that's a rough day, glad it worked out well. Hope your guitarist gets his stuff back, or at least didn't lose anything irreplaceable. I'm excited to hear more, after that early on taste. I bet those double tracks sound real full!

Yeah, they're sounding really good. The vocals are actually what I'm most excited about, which is unusual for me.

Could you recommend a good 1x15 cab for doom?
I already have a 4x10 and since nobody is buying it I'll keep it and add a 15" cab.
Head is Peavey Tour 700, bass is Thunderbird Classic.

Also, anyone tried the Fulltone OCD overdrive on bass? It's primarilly a guitar OD but I heard some bass licks and it sounds killer.

I'm slowly grouping some gear for the coming release of our debut album(more EP, IMO) and for a probably upcoming tour, so any help is very welcome.

The OCD sounds great on bass!
You can also try a Fuzzrocious - The Demon, those low end are yummy! :)

I haven't ever had the Fulltone, but I had a Fuzzrocious demon king for awhile and its the only pedal I've ever sold that I regret selling. The demon's sound fantastic. Absolutely hateful. I wish I could have gotten one of the Bongripper parallel distortion pedals which is a cat tail and demon circuit that is blend-able in one pedal.
