Yeah, neck comfort is one of the reasons I pretty much only play 4s. Never played a 5 that I liked the neck on as much. Then again, I've never tried one of those.

Same. If I really need to play that low, I'll just down tune.
I'm doing the same as well, but with a group I've never played with...what bands you covering? I'm doing a bunch of hair metal. First time being a hired gun for a real big gig, feels odd. I do enjoy the tune selection, some of it's a bit of a technical workout, the rest are just fun. Would kill to do some old Misfits covers though...
Ha! Neck comfort is why I play a 6. Curling my fingers over a skinny 4, even a 5, causes cramps. Go figure...
My hands are relatively small for a dude. One of the reasons Rickenbackers feel so comfortable to me, probably.
We're doing a God Dethroned set. Every Halloween people get together and there are 3 nights of random metal musicians doing sets dedicated to specific bands.
Over the last couple of years I was part of a Judas Priest band (we did the Painkiller album) and a Ghost band. Not a ghost fan but I love playing and it was a cool group of people so I had a lot of fun.
This year should be fun too. Only 3 rehearsals but I feel pretty good - everyone put a lot of work into preparing.
I imagine Ghost songs are pretty fun to play regardless of whether you're a fan or not. That sounds like a really fun event.
That's something I've noticed with a lot of the music I've been asked to help cover. Although I could never do that solely as a living or my only musical venture.
@Maureen M I'm jealous those musta been so much fun! Especially when they're semi one off.
It is so much fun! The best part for me is jamming with new people and sort of adding to my "little black book" of good musicians.
The drummer from the Priest set (Dan from Conclave) actually just joined us in our original band. Our old drummer moved to California and we already knew Dan was a great drummer and a great guy. So joining up was easy and we didn't miss a beat (no pun intended).

It should. I waiting on the screws that are being mailed to me by EGC. I have a jazz, but I'm very fond of it. Once the screws show up, I want to see if it fits on my modulus flea which I never use. That may bring life back into that bass, and would also be hilarious.
I got the MFD split P pickup yesterday and put it in an Ibanez P-bass copy. Like, Whoa, Man, this pickup has some serious balls going on. Highly recommended if you want to make a boring P-bass sound angrier.

I'm excited, I should have a whole new rig in a couple of weeks or so. A Custom Verellen Meatsmoke Hybrid, Dually 2x15, and a Dunable Thunderclapper.
That's a whole lot of custom gear.
What's the pickup setup you went for on the Dunable?
Dual Bigfoot humbuckers with individual coil taps and a blend knob. Meatsmoke has a orange/matamp style voicing with a clean blend knob and baxandall EQ.
