Darkglass amp for doom? Never thought about that. Do you use it’s onboard dirt?
I honestly thought this "Stoner" thread was going to be busy all of the time with "Stoner"'s posting everything "Stoner" including the "Stoner" genre and instrument related content. , it sounds cool now but once Im fireside wasted this would probably be the greatest thing in the world at that time. He does a great version of Windhand, he has powerful vocals for sure.

I've posted some of them before in this thread, which is why I won't do it again but his guitarnjo (or whatever you call it) versions of Funerolopolis and Saturnine by Electric Wizard far transcend the source material.
the sb-2 is now on reverb too, hopefully the absurdly cheap one will sell soon so people will start considering mine
Any of you guys rock either a GK 400rb or a Sunn concert bass head? Maybe an old peavey? I'm moving out some synth gear as well as an old warwick and might be able pick one of these puppies up. Or, give me a recommendation in a head under, say $900. I currently have a trace elliot RAH-300 12 GP. Its cool, but i was thinking of adding a 'doomier' head to the family.

SVTs aren't flat with mids on 10. They don't use the Fender tone stack. They use a derivative of the Baxandall/James EQ. On just the preamp, it's approximately flat with all knobs around noon. The SVT's power amp, however, imparts a big upper bass/low mid bump.
no technichally the tonestack is flat with bass mids and treble at noon.
in reality you'll get the flattest response with bass at 10 o'clock, mids at 2 o'clock treble at 2 o'clock
Those people are wrong, then, about what flat is.
2-10-2 is flat on amps that use the Fender tone stack. Old Fenders, tube Sunns (at least until the red knob version of the Model T), old Mesas, etc. The Orange AD200B also has a Fender tone stack, as do the Terror Bass amps.
Ampeg is actually an outlier for not having used the Fender EQ design on most of their amps. The B-15, B-25B, V4, and SVT all use some derivation of the Baxandall/James type EQ that allows cut and boost on both treble and bass, as well as midrange on the amps that have that control (the midrange control is a separate circuit).
Thats why i ask here. Talkbass-at-large would recommend the smallest, lightest, cleanest sounding micro head. (Though it might be I can doom like a mofo with one, like that darkglass upthread 
) Because talkbass-at-large are, generally speaking, arthritic old farts that play mustang sally every saturday night

(Though truth be told, i partly got the gk 4x12 because its 90lbs vs a trad 8x10, and i have to drag it up and down a flight of stairs solo, so yeah, weight/size is an issue).
So, back to the task at hand, how bout an ol' v4b? I don't think an svt would fit my budget. I've also looked at old Traynors, various old SS Sunns, etc. The Gallien Krueger 400rb is intriguing to me, since I dig the GK growl. Its not super distorted but nasty (in a good way). Plus i can get clean one for under $400 all day.

if you can swing an 800RB i would go that route over the 400RB.
i've heard a V4B being used for bass in loud bands and it sounds great. unless you are looking for clean and low. you will need a good cab(s) to make it work. think Lemmy in Motorhead tone
