Hey all! I've been pondering Al Cisneros' performance on
Sonic Titan for a while. What really gets me is that he has such an aggressive and pronounced attack on this track, but I don't get how. Usually when you talk about pronounced attack, you're talking pick and bridge mic, but as we know, Al plays basically the opposite of that. How do you guys think he did it? Did he make an exception? Is it the Rick's double outputs at work?
Here's a video from '13. Sonic Titan is the first song after the intro. He's playing at the neck but his tone is a lot more fuzzy (likely due to the change from I assume Green Matamp on the original to Ampeg) with much less attack, especially apparent on the bass-only part circa 7:40 in the video. Ofc they filmed Matt taking a whiff instead of Al's bass part hahaha
