I don't think Sleep ever really claimed to be more/deeper than a super stoner band that likes space.

Sleep were always sooooo stonerrrr.

Also it's better than anything Electric Wizard has done in at least a decade.

The first track is the only one I don't like. So far each time through is better.

I'm actually really glad that Sonic Titan and Antarcticans Thawed were on it. I was afraid we'd never get those on a studio album.

Especially Antarticans Thawed as they had taken it out of live rotation a few years back. I really love that tune. Sonic Titan was a pleasant surprise. As long as they don't take a decade for the next one, its all good

I am an album guy. When an artist releases a set of songs that works as a cohesive unit that can be compared and contrasted with their other albums.
With this new sleep I can't do that. It's like a single with some rereleases which feels like a preview or a teaser.
Not going to complain cause the material is good. It just seems like they had needed to or wanted to get something out by a certain date and this is what they had.

I paid $8 for a digital copy so no problems for me with value here.

I feel like it was great. To me it feels more like they wanted to put out some songs they had, than a major attempt at a new record. It was pretty much unmarketed so I dont really get the dissapointment. Im sure if theyd done 7 brand new songs it would have been much more heavily marketed. Less of a corporate money grab and more like a bonus for the fans. I mean they streamed it for free everywhere. Im pumped for some high quality sleep recordings and hopefully they get a good response and it pumps them up to make more music.

Agree here.
I like it a lot.
When I saw HOF a few years back in Maine just before they recorded the last album Matt did a subby fuzzed out guitar intro that was a lot like the intro track.
I think is some guys that have some songs they like so said F it and recorded the stuff.

Anyone know if Jason Roeder is playing drums on this thing?

Here's the progress on the new Fundage-bird, now called Memphisbird. This one is fighting back a bit, mostly because the neck I am using is kind of a POS. Janky tuners and the nut and string tree needed work. Also I will need to decide if it's worth it to make trim rings for the pickups because you can still see the factory cavities on the sides. Should sound pretty good once it's done.
