The Fister/Chrch split is also really good. That came out last year.
Is it funny though?Damn, I need to not venture out of the doom cave. Must resist urge to continue posting in the 'are you the creepy wireless guy thread'.
I may check it out for the laughs. Will try to hold back from posting too much, though, cause I don't want to incur the wrath of the mods.Of course!
That seems to be every thread outside of a select few, such as this one. It's everything you expect it to be: A mostly tongue-in-cheek OP and a horde of people personally affronted by the notion that they may not be as cool as they think they are, or that something that *might* be OK in one situation isn't good in all of them.
You got it. The horde of 'Professional Gigging Bassists' are aghast that running around in the crowd with your wireless set up is *gasp* cheesy. The nerve! How dare I (and others). I'm sure it goes over great with the patrons of the ol Burger Barn when you play your tasty bass solo amongst the happy hour crowd. They have many happy customers you see, so don't question the coolness of what they do.That seems to be every thread outside of a select few, such as this one.
I enjoyed the new Sleep. I really liked the mix.
Any albums you guys really liked the past year I should look into? Every once in a while I go over to the youtube channel Stoned Meadow of Doom, but everything I click on sounds kind of lazy (as ridiculous as that sounds haha). Is it just me?
I liked Somali Yacht Club.
I'll have to check that thread out.
To the guys that are using various rat pedals, I admit I've never used one for bass or guitar. I've heard them and they sound cool, just never had one. Would picking up a proco be worth it, or are clones worth dropping the dime on since I've never played one.
Anyway, I got my Trace Elliot V-Type back from repairs and plugged in the Turbo Rat with the new Turd Bird build with DiMarzio DP120's at rehearsal last night. Other than needing to still tweak the new bass (raising pickups a bit and fixing the tone knob), fine tune the TE, and play through more than 1x15, the Turbo Rat sounded pretty good, but not amazing. I had the distortion set at maybe 85-90%, but it added a nice bump to the upper mids, and a slightly perceivable roll off on the lows.
Is it a Trace V6 or V8?
In high school that was my dream head.
Personally, I find most Rats unpleasant on my bass rigs. Guitar rigs are more forgiving for that tone. That being said, there are plenty of bands that rock Rats on bass and/or guitar who sound fantastic. It always made me try Rats.I'll have to check that thread out.

SYC is damn good. Stoned meadow has a ton of great stuff. I've been digging a lot of summoner lately.

First album was great, the followup... not so much.
Stoned Meadows of Doom always suggested Natraxas as a followup, I ignored it endlessly then realized their one album is shagging amazing, same for.. uhm..poopie.. somethingsomething Blues Exchange? Samsara?
To be honest standard rats never did it for me, modding one or getting something like a cat tail just to have the ability to remove the clipping diodes made a massive difference.
