Yup you were right. So glad I didn’t end up selling it before I gave it a go as a J. I did grab the traynor from here. Solid price for what it is. I’ve been thinking of picking up a v type pre for a lightweight backup rig actually. How do you like your hybrid?

It was great for 5 min, then the output dropped and started distorting. It's at the shop getting fixed now. I freakin' shipped it to a dude out of town because I am sick & tired of the 4-6 week backlog that the techs near me have.

Anyone else get their Boneshaker? Thoughts? I think my honeymoon is already over with it. I bought a DOD 250 off ebay today. Probably should have done that to begin with. I do dig the mids the boneshaker can add to the muff, but I don't seem to like any other sounds I'm getting out of it. One would think with all those knobs, but alas. Lol. Hence the DOD 250. 2 knobs. One for volume, one for amount of yummy dirt.

I've been using the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] for fuzz and am really loving it. It isn't specifically designed for bass but the mid control really lets you add back in the oomph that fuzz can take out of the bass.

Anyone else get their Boneshaker? Thoughts? I think my honeymoon is already over with it. I bought a DOD 250 off ebay today. Probably should have done that to begin with. I do dig the mids the boneshaker can add to the muff, but I don't seem to like any other sounds I'm getting out of it. One would think with all those knobs, but alas. Lol. Hence the DOD 250. 2 knobs. One for volume, one for amount of yummy dirt.

Does the DOD 250 reissue suck out any tonez, or is it overly fizzy etc.? Lately I've been using no pedals and just upping the gain on the amp for the always-on dirt. If I need fuzz/distortion I have lately used either a Blower Box or a Boss ODB-3 that is tweaked more aggressively.

The thing I like about that DOD is the simple layout, because my go-to was an MXR Distortion+ back in the day, only 2 knobs to deal with. The MXR killed the low end though, this was way before anybody modded stuff and before the boutique pedals really started. I'm re-thinking things, and leaning towards less knobs = better.

I got mine. Only played with it about 10min. Enough to verify function. Sounds like the last one for the most part. I am hearing something happen on the depth knob this time. So maybe there is a variance in their production run. Sounded a touch noisier than my first but my power supply has been going that way and I blame it. That's next purchase I guess.

Even if I don't love it completely ill keep it. I want to do the depth knob mod and hear it on guitar or keyboard.

It's similar to the one I have from Dunwich already, which actually sounds kinda like one.

The 2013 version of the 250 is true bypass. I shall report back when I get it.

The new 250 definitely eats bottom if you turn it up too far. I have it split off into a loop into some effects that sometimes work better with OD in front of them (phase, wah, etc) and then bring it back in with clean to preserve the bottom end (and then both into fuzz and out into amp).

sold an old marshall cab and think I’ll look at getting either a volt thrower or Odb. I don’t have a really good overdrive just fuzz. Which do y’all prefer ?

Good to know. I have a pork loin i use to thicken and boost lows. Its usually on, so I should be ok. Plus i wasn't going to run the 250 up too much

I love my DOD250, it's my second OD and the one that ended my OD quest. If it's good enough for Al Cisneros, it's good enough for me .
Also, works great stacked with a muff.

Supposedly, it's how the circuit was designed. To eat low end when dimed. Go figure.

Depends what you want. You said Overdrive, so I’d go with ODB. The VT is more of a distortion. Though neither is my favorite Overdrive on bass. I’d go with modded Pork Loin for that.

Not sure what you mean. I use a 1Spot. I don’t think there’s a battery option.

Both cool. I like the sound of the Olde Dirty Bass a bit more though.

Anything capable of supplying 9 volts will do. If you have a power supply on your board, just use one of the 9 volt outputs. A one spot will also do fine.

standard 9v. but it can take up to 18v. higher voltages will yeild more headroom and a bit tighter distortion sound
