Your Teeth in My Neck by Scientist goes REALLY well with Bauhaus, it's actually eerie (best word really) how well Bauhaus can be worked into a dub set. Feel like Goth clubs getting into Witchhouse now (sounds about right, a decade late) is the wrong move. We need Goth/Dub weed lounges in our metropolitan cities and we need them now.

my guitarist uses a similar tuning for some songs. honestly i don't bother chasing him. i just stay in standard. my reccomendation is to try that first.

our home base tuning is Eb standard. from there we will do a drop tuning to Db (just the lowest string). there are some songs where the guitar will drop to Ab or Bb but in those cases i will stay in Eb.

for some examples you can check out our bandcamp. all these songs the guitar is tuned down but the bass is not.

New Khemmis anyone? As these things tend to go, much more melodic but that’s not a bad thing. Bass doesn’t sound as grindy upon the first listen.

They're for sure becoming the band they were meant to be, some of the doom-y vibes of their last album were nice but I feel like they wanted to be more of a traditional metal band. The members have put their time in the "extreme" doom scene. I still return to Khemmis' drummer's O.G. death metal/doom band:

I wasn't as enamored with their last album as the metal press was. It was very good, don't get me wrong. But I think the new album feels like the album they were destined to make. They feel more at home. I think its a stronger album.

Not sure any of ya like Beastmaker, but those cats just put out another ep. Thats 3 in like 5-6 weeks. They are 70s sabbath 'classic metal'. Good stuff

That stoner rock 70s strain is so saturated these past few years, but if you're a fan of it you are very fortunate indeed. Khemmis sounds like it's trying to please me a bit too much, I want a touch more ugliness

They're cool, though I'm not that big a fan of the 70s retro stuff unless it's Sleep.

I'd rather they had put out an album and an EP than three EPs, though.

Somehow I stumbled on it and I got a chuckle. Almost took a screen shot and posted here haha. Definitely reminded me of this thread.

I love pickup covers, I know they're technically useless and generally considered a nuisance but I love the look and it totally stems from the first time I watched "Live at Pompeii."

I should buy one for my Blacktop Jazz and see if it covers the neck pickup and doesn't look like crap. A little doublesided tape should hold it for a week or two.

Same here, I'm debating one on mine. Might have to try the same. Saw this Invalid Link Removed and I dig the shape. When done right, like a Ric, old jazz or Tbird it looks awesome.

I don't really dig Motorhead.

This thread introduced me to "good" Lemmy.

I enjoy Motorhead, but yeah Hawkwind is something amazing and I would kill to have seen them live. On a side note, when I heard them I realized that was the sound in my head and that which my band is most like. His rhythm and riff work in that band is epic.

I remember a show we did once where an older guy came up and thanked us profusely. He said something along the lines of how he hadn't heard anything like us since King Crimson. That and how he liked that we just kind of went all over the place but still had a groove. I was blown away especially with how heavy we can get. I have never seen a guy in their 70s at a heavy stoner/psych show.

I saw Hank Williams III a few years back, a man who is his own opening act.

It was the most varied audience every, from the folks who showed up for the country stuff (yo could close your eyes and feel like you were in a honky tonk in the '50s with the original Hank) to the guys who came for the Assjack punk or the doom laden.. err..whatever it was called.. Preperation H or something?

But there were some cats who stuck around from start to finish from all walks, it was pretty amazing. I'm pretty sure they weren't there for the thunder, but it was cool to see them enjoying it.

I realized the last few shows I've seen I've become that guy I used to see in the back of the old hardcore shows in the 80s, sorta faded and jaded, not up front or mixing it up but just a part of the scene. I kinda like that I've gracefully become "old head" status without even trying.
