Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

i don't as much anymore but i have a lot in the past. never had an issue

I've never had an issue. Honestly, TBers have been better and easier to deal with than ebay or reverb for me.

I've had the same experience as well. When I switched to preamp/Poweramp I bought or traded a dozen of them from Talkbass members. So far everyone has been cool. Probably buy my next amp here.

Pretty sure most of my rig(s) have been bought from here. I know it includes my main amp and cab, and I’d estimate between 12 and 15 pedals currently in use on various boards. That would make up roughly 3/4 of my “in use” pedals, as well as a handful of other pedals that I’m holding on to for when I need them.

Just picked up a rusty twin to my first one. Numbers 1 and 4 of 11.

Bought a neck and a head on classifieds. Usually much better experience [ more communication/honesty] than fleabay
Oh yeah I bought a neck off the classifieds also. Was a custom order from Lowe Custom Guitars.
This guy.
It's a medium scale conversion fretless neck. Awesome. Although that nut i made by hand poorly. It since has been replaced by a Chinese knockoff Just-a-Nut.
Not a bad purchase at all.

Man I fell behind by a couple pages...

Those are both wicked cool looking basses. Dig the headstock on the conversion neck. Does it actually feel like a medium scale? I've never used a conversion neck before. Always been a bit curious.

@eyeballkid the worn look on it and the hardware go together so well. I've seen a few guys play Warwicks, but I've never tried one myself.

I have a old SS GK head i love. It was cheap too. Like $350. Why replace it with a lightweight SS head? It weighs maybe 20lbs. Whats the big deal?

That's one thing I've yet to figure out. I do understand for the peeps that need to use mass transit, since moving everything in one trip is ideal. But for everyone else, I guess it's just the excuse to buy something new? Now if the head has it's own sound and that's what you like I understand, but not because of the weight. 20-30lbs is nothing, unless you have a medical/physical issue.

My annoyance is when a TBer makes a point of it to lecture someone on using heavy gear. It boiled over yesterday after combing through some threads. Hence, the rant above. I'm better now.

Why don't you shorten your rants and put them on twitter? I mean, the technology is there for lighter reading. I don't know why you're still writing these long-winded novels. An angry tweet will get the same point across, it's just easier to post...

Never used it, hated the idea of it and how much stupid worthless consumption crap gets posted that I have to hear about on radio and anywhere else.

Anyone here know if any worthwhile bands post that kind of stuff? I know I've stumbled on some all them witches singles/covers that are YouTube/live exclusively.
