Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

This is what I do for a living.

Each one of those blocks weighs 60-75lbs. I usually lift about 150 of these a day, generally a couple of times each.

I don't mind lifting heavy amps and cabs for fun long as I get to blast them.

Or, if you have to go lighter weight, don't sermonize about it. "If you value your back", blah blah blah. Whatever. Just shut up about it already. Play what you want, meanwhile I'll be rolling my poopie in.

It's like they think everyone else sucks at lifting things as much as they do.

Also my bigass 2x15 has neo drivers in it now. So it weighs less than a 4x12. Also also.... I have bandmates to help lift stuff.

We played a show in Montreal back in April, it was downtown and had no parking. Unloading our gear was a total pain, about 5 block walk. Then the venue was in a large back room of a pub, so we had to wiggle our way through a bunch of customers, tables and chairs carrying our stuff. I was regretting my choice of amp (SVT), should have brought the ToneHammer. If i was playing shows every week I would definitely consider going lighter weight. Since we only play 6-9 times a year it's not a big deal.

I often wonder about peoples' screen name origins, pronunciations, etc.

In this case I wonder, "B0ner Q. Bat"? Is that like John Q. Public?

Yes, its br1qbat....broneqbat... so is it Brokeback, like the mountain? or something none of us have thought of... like a French surname?

Inquiring minds want to know, lol

Make sure you use proper lifting mechanics. I threw out my back in February at the ripe old age of 29. I'm just now getting really confident with loading in/out all my own gear again.

Keep your back straight, stick your ass out like an idiot, bend your knees like you're sitting down in a chair and not like you're kneeling down to tie your shoes, etc. I dunno probably stretch once in a while and poopie.

What's funny is that theres a tber armyofdarkness, and since their avatar is a female vampire (bloodrayne to be exact) I am forever reading their name as Amy of Darkness. :facepalm:

Kriegs is an old nickname from gaming. I named all my characters Kriegs[something]. My warrior was named Kriegsmaschine, my ranger/hunter was Kriegsjaeger, etc. so people just started calling me Kriegs, regardless of which character / game I played. Then it became the name of one of my musical projects and now its just kind of everywhere in my life.

I just double park and then move the van around once all the gear is unloaded out of it.

When moving gear through a place where people in the way I say "excuse me" as I approach and repeat it louder and louder until yelling "****ING MOVE!" right before colliding with them. And if they still don't move, and I collide with them, well, **** them then.
