I think I'm going to try biamping it more like Jeff Matz, going full range with both rigs and then eq the sounds for the blend I want. I have to figure out how I'm going to route my pedals...

I bi-amp frequently. But not in a traditional sense, more like royal blood. Not sure if that even counts, though if blended right sounds amazing.
That wounded paw and Orange ob1 amp seem to bi-amp via a single amp. I feel like that would be my first step to see if I really want to go that way.

The Wounded Paw is the most finicky head I've ever owned. There are some great sounds in there, but it takes loads of tweaking to find them, and is REALLY funny about what pickups it likes and which ones it doesn't. Also, it's not as loud as the rating would lead you to believe. Wouldn't be my choice if you plan to gig with it, might be cool as a home studio piece.
I've had a couple of Verellen options- one pedal preamp, one rack mount, one full, all tube job. Great stuff, great guy, but they have a baked-in tone to a degree. Not as much a one trick pony as the Orange AD I used to play, but not THAT wide a range of tones either. With the tube version volume was never an issue, though!
My current stereo rig is neck pickup clean to a Sunn Coliseum to a Greenboy Audio Dually 2-15 and bridge pickup dirty to a Fender Super Bassman 300 to a Sunn 2000S 2-15. There have been MANY permutations, though. I feel like a bi-amp or stereo rig is the way to go for bass if you can move it around easily enough. I also like that the Fender has two channels, and paired with the Dually can honestly carry pretty much any room, if setup time or footprint is an issue. Plus it'll push a 2ohm load, if you have a wild hair to run both cabs at once.mmm!

While not their exact sound, I am going for Royal Blood type thing or what rxdiablo does. I tried biamping in the past with a MusicMan 65 combo and my Sunn 300T, but it wasn't what I was looking for; the guitar amp is too clean.
I picked up a Peavey 6505+ 112 combo yesterday. I'm going for the high gain crunch, ala Pelican gallops (I know they use Marshalls and Mesas, not Peaveys). I'm going to mess with it this weekend to see which bass head sounds best with it. In my brain, I think my Ampeg SVT CL will sound cool running pretty much dry and then putting the effects into the 6505.
Anyone have thoughts/opinions about swapping out the stock Sheffield 6505 speaker for an Eminence bass speaker? It would require a craigslist purchase and I'd rather save money, but I don't want to blow the Sheffield either.

Swapping speakers isn't a bad idea. The other option is to just turn down you lows. I do the same for a couple songs where my dry bass is going into a 15w vox night train. I have it cranked and I've yet to blow the greenback.

Get a highpass filter that you only run on the guitar cabinet side and highpass it so its not pushing a ton of lows. Part of the bass with a overdriven guitar rig sound is the speakers being pushed a little IMO. This way you can do it safely and still get the extra high mid bump from the guitar speakers.
Excellent idea! That's more practical than tweaking the eq and hoping it is enough cut to keep the cone from over exertion.
Y’all know more about this stuff than me but I split mysignal out to my guitar rig (laney aor protube/splawn 412) with an octave up pedal. It sounded very close to the royal blood thing.
Batsquatch, I almost bought an AOR but the 6505 was cheaper and in better shape, plus I don't need to buy a cabinet too. I was messing with the same split using a Micro POG. Do you use a highpass filter, graphic eq or anything like that before the Laney or do you always use the octave up?
That sounds deadly, man! Anywhere I can hear some clips or see a video? I really want to run a stereo rig in the future. I've been dreaming about it for ages. Two heads, two cabs (at least), one bass, many pedals.
Thanks for the info on the Wounded Paw and the Verellen amps. I'm talking to someone now about a Meatsmoke Hybrid. Thinking about jumping on it if I end up selling my amp.

There's a ton of bi-amping on the album, I think every track.
I'd call it more heavy psych I think. Never thought we fit in a genre. For those interested, it should be free now. Can't believe it's almost been 3 years, but we took an 18mo break not long after for family/life. Live album, I think it was either our 1st or 2nd show together and we kinda threw everything together quick. Nothing cut out, nothing added...kinda like it that way, although we've written lyrics for almost all of it since. I've been meaning to over dub the vocals to add to it, that and I lost my voice that day. We put it out mostly because fans asked for it.
That's kinda how Lansing was, now I'm in metro Detroit and I don't think it's much different. Haven't had much time to get out though.
