@kleinenenten, I am with you on the kids. Collectively, my band survived two marriages, career changes, college, three births, raising another kid from diapers to middle school, several home moves, and three big breakups/divorces. Life happens and it's great, but they really impede a band's momentum. When we decided to take some time time off for other projects, I was the only person who didn't have something else going on.
Everyone's project is rad though: The drummer is in a awesome blackened sludge band called Glacial Tomb (w/ Ben from Khemmis on guitarand the bassist, Connor, who use to sing for Abigail Williams), one guitarist is playing bass in Fathers (post metal), and the the other guitarist is playing bass in a power violence band called Limbwrecker.
The bummer is I lost some momentum. The kicker is I know that by the time I start playing out with my new projects, my old band will want to book shows again. It'll all work out though.
