I have a 90s era 'Russian'/ 'Big box' Small Stone and it plays very nice with bass. I have a phase 90 clone (cheapo joyo) ehich sounds ok but a bit to clangy where the stone is smoother

I've been using the Small Stone emulation in my MS60b which I prefer to the Phase XXX emulations. I was looking long and hard at a Whetstone in the used database of Guitar Center but then just started to drift further and further because I like the idea of expression pedals and want an excuse to buy one.

Isn't it such a pain. Simplicity is great, but then you always feel like you wanna make small tweaks and you end up with a million knobs.
I tend to jump on getting simple pedals. I feel like I end up spending more time being creative and less time just fiddling. But it's great to have options at times.

Love messing around with expression pedals, expands the usability imensely.
It's been a while since I've tried it, but I remember liking the DOD phaser too. Cheap to boot.
For fifty bucks more I could’ve bought the moogerfooger LPF, which is like crazy control options, but most of the people weren’t really high on it here so... I dunno. I still wonder if I made the right choice.

Well, FWIW, now I can use my multi to start aping a flanger and then decide I need to overspend on one of them, too.
I'm trying to figure out expression pedals, all the manual says is "TRS expression pedal" but I know they have different internal wiring/specifications.
expression pedals are such a pain. i wish they could just standardize them
I like the flanger on the zoom ms. One of the most used patches for me. I feel your pain, I think it's just a matter of figuring out which ones work in what way...not an easy task from what I've heard. I've only used one a few times.

I think I've got it kinda sorta figured out, though. The concept of an external envelope trigger is new to me, but I've basically got the "clean" half of my LS2 running into the MS60b which is then acting only as a trigger to the EP-2's filter. I've never used a lot of the effects in the MS60b, so I don't really know how they sound, but so far I've been using a tremolo patch to fire the filter off which is fantastic, plus if I turn off the MS60b it triggers on the instrurment input anyways, so it's a whole other effect. The staccato option with the tremolo trigger is... really intense, I don't see much use for it, but if I got funky it would be a thing.
The phaser only option is wonderfully slow, but it does get a little lost when you run it behind fuzz, even with the 250 on. But envelope phasing, both together, is better. Without fuzz in front, or running the Ruiner into it and triggering with the MS60b is super rad.
I absolutely overspent, but it's been months since I bought a toy, so I feel content. I still kinda wonder if I'd prefer the MF101, but whatever. This works.
I still want a cheap expression pedal (although I sorta wonder what happens if I run two, one in sweep and one in speed, and mix it up at the same time by connecting them; I understand the guy from Rage Against teh Machine ran two wahs connected by a board).
To think, this started because I decided I wanted a better wah, then I should get a dedicated phaser instead of the multi, and then.. (shrug) Poor self control. It's a thing.

After a poopie year and not being in bands anymore, I'm tempted to redo my rig. I'm currently playing through an Ampeg SVT-VR through an 810e. I was tempted to sell it to buy a Wounded Paw Bass 701, then keep the cash for when/if I switch cabs. After seeing them coming and go so many times on here, I've started to eyeball a Verellen Meatsmoke Hybrid (used possibly). I've also considering the Meatsmoke rackmount (or another pre) and a poweramp. Any recommendations?
I might get rid of the 8x10 and get a 6x10 or two 4x10s. I haven't decided on that just yet as I'd like to get a new head/rack unit first.
What's everyone else running these days?

I think you made a rad choice, that's a great pedal!
I've had three Moogerfoogers, having owned the lowpass filter twice. While it is great pedals, it always drove me CRAZY that the bypassed signal had a distinct gain. You have to set a gain level with the drive knob that impacts your tone at all times. In particular, it ruins grindy, pic/Entwistle-style fingers on new strings sounds.
Personal taste, bubble envelopes in heavy music often (not always) find sound out of place or intentional, similar to slapping in a doom song. The MF-101 pretty much does the bubble envelope sounds, fixed low pass stuff, and the dimed resonance/filter sweep thing. You have more options on the Pigtronix pedal for crazy filter sweeps, more synth type sounds, plus the bubble envelope, plus a phaser, and it takes up less pedalboard real estate (the MF's are big!).
PS- I use to to hang the Stoner/Doom boards a lot when the threads needed numbers. I've been more of a voyer since having kids... I had to choose what to do with my free time, play music or write on discussion boards about playing music.

I went back, re-visited the manual, and have been having more fun with it since. If I were in charge, I'd have made a few changes to it, specifically in EF+LFO, activated via toggle switch, Depth of LFO becomes Blend between LFO and EF and Center deactivates: I wish Depth stayed active or deactivated and Center became blend and the toggle was a foot switch.
The Ruiner pushed through it and blended back in with clean is a whole other beast, too. Now the one trick pony of ultra fuzzy "blaaartzzzzt" noises alone can be.. well, "blaaartzzzzt" but with panache. So, two tricks. but that's still one higher.

I was using two Ampeg 810s for years and liked them. I had a rehearsal where I had to use an old Yamaha 215 (like Joe Victim had) and loved the tone. After some searching, consensus was that the old Mesa Diesel 215s were the best of the design. I grabbed one, then two, and eventually sold my Ampegs. I love the SVT 810 tone, but they are just not as efficient. Where my Sunn 300T was almost dimed with the Ampegs, I get asked to turn down now when I'm on 4 and that's competing against two 5150 full stacks and a heavy hitting drummer.
That's what I like to hear. I've been toying with the idea of two Mesa cabs, but I have no idea. I'm 80% sure I want a Verellen head, but I'm still open to cab recommendations. I've thought about a second 8x10, a 6x10 and 2x15, two 4x10s, two 6x10s... the options are kind of endless.
@gfen feed the pedals! I got outta that phase temporarily this year...well actually just substituted my bass build project budget for the pedal budget. Although I did get to reclaim my DOD250. Those sound great on bass. Glad to see you're having a ton of fun with the phaser, I'll have to give one a whirl.
As for the dual wah, Tim did it because his signal was split between two amps if I remember right. Musta been something about the signal chain order where his wahs sounded better after splitting the signal. Each wah fed a different amp. Great idea though, I'm sure what you have in mind can work.

@Josh Pelican Missed your last bit somehow. I liked Ampegs, but had the same issue with the efficiency. I now just use a mesa 2x12 and I run into the same requests as @thombo. I couldn't even go over 5 at an outdoor gig...loud as hell and so damn full. How thick it sounds while still being articulate blows my mind, and I don't even use the tweeter (no need). I haven't even thought about different cabs, at least for the main rig. I've thought about getting a 1x12 and or a 4x12 though just for practice, etc. Never gonna look back, and can't say enough about how much I love mine.
My only complaint is that the cab on its own is deep, and can be awkward to move at times. Well worth it though.

Anyone mess with biamping? I'm contemplating grabbing a 6505+ combo to run w/ my bass rig. I'll swap the speaker for a bass speaker.
Interesting, i have had this desire to do the same. Run my Gk rig for the lows and stick the highs thru something like a Orange CR120 and a 4x12
