Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Right hand to God they are suh-weeeet!
Stellar jazz tone, the Pbass tone is ALL the good of a pbass without the low end flub when playing finger style. The rear pbass pup added in is just simply addictive. And..well.. I always love humbuckers. The tone, no matter the setting, is crisp and full, kinda bell like and sweet sweet sweet. No pingy high end or flubby lows. No honky mids. Just super well balanced and rich. The tone knob is interesting too. It's more gradual than usual.

I am familiar with the tech. Do they sound good or "right"?

Good is an understatement. See the post directly before the one you quoted.

As a fan of P/P style, I prefer running the bridge at 10 and the neck at about 8 or so.. It' gives it jsut enough clank and not as overpowering as when you put more neck into it.

That's exactly what I'm doing too.

sub'ed... this might be just my speed.....
Following because frankly my eyes are beginning to bleed from reading Jaco in every other thread on TB - hoping you guys are my oasis.

Welcome aboard, this is definately a sort of oasis on talkbass. A place where you can run a stupid loud rig and tune low and no ones gonna crucify you because leo got it right the first time and jaco only needed 4 strings.

And the pocket. Don't forget about the pocket.
Or getting paid. If you aren't getting paid for playing someone else's work, you stink.
Don't forget to serve the song. You have to get on your knees and serve the song.

When my wife and I jam (she on Drums), it often sounds kinda heavy/gothy... seems like maybe we're naturally gravitating to doom... maybe it just happens under the correct influence....
Yeah my writing has always naturally gravitated towards doom and post metal. Its what i listen to so its what comes out i guess. Just release that darkness within from hating life. Its all very cathartic.
