I made the Carbronita for Darkglass Vintage Deluxe plus cash trade last night. i haven't plugged it in, but I'm amped! I like my Fuzzrocious but haven't been doing the allout distortion thing as much lately. Thanks for the feedback.
I liked the sound and feel of the Carbonita but I just couldn't set the pickup at a height that worked. I was either hitting the particularly tall pole pieces or it was not loud enough. I've never really had that problem before.
@cornfarmer, that space is rad! Every few months, I end up burning an afternoon googling storage container rehearsal spaces. Between gentrification pushing our rehearsal spaces, weed horticulture taking up even the smallest rental spaces, and having to share spaces, it'd be cool to do something like this. So what if you have to take a leak during rehearsal?

I really dig the Darkglass Vintage Ultra. I have version 2. So far, I've only used it alone in my basement through an SVT into a Mesa Diesel 215. I'll try it with a pair of guitarists on Tue.
I haven't had a drive pedal in a while because I was cranking amps for driving tube gain. As a result, my heads have been eating tubes. I like the sound of a hot-bias. Also, I was using inefficient cabs, thereby pushing the tubes really hard. I think the Darkglass will get that hot-bias sound through EQ, so I will bias my amps correctly and save tubes.
It's great drive, gritty and analog, from tube compression to grind. For the past several years I've been using a Fuzzrocious Rattail, Ram the Manparts, and a Grey Stache, often in the the loop of an active blend pedal (to retain low end). While I'll still be using the Fuzzrocious, this is different; tighter with grit and grind but not pushing to feedback. Thanks to ya'll for the feedback on the trade.

I met up with a drummer and a guitar player today to go over some material they (and the singer who wasn't there) had written and we ended up hanging out and jamming for a couple hours, seemed to go pretty good even tho there as a ton of stuff that was up there BPM wise. These guys are pretty heavily thrash influenced so its a lot faster than I'm used to playing, but I can chart out and at least practice a bit at home this week before meeting up with em again next weekend.
I ended up mostly playing clean just to get a feel for what was going on with the everything structurally so next week will have much more dirt.

Pedalboard update: getting there. Finally got my volume pedal so i can mute and swell with my across the stage amp. Stole the idea from Aaron Turner in his sumac rig rundown. I need to get a higher amperage power supply for avalanche run as its causing part of my pedalboard to shut down when i power it on. Not used to high amp pedals.
Finally got the acoustic panels up at the practice space. Cuts out a lot of the treble and mids that were bouncing all over the room. Feels less chaotic to turn up in there now. New amp head being delivered tomorrow. Drummer audition thursday. ONWARD!
Anyone out there have experience using a Guild B301/302 for doom/hardcore/sludge/whatever? I'm looking into getting one as a sort of cheaper alternative to a Ripper (though they probably dont sound all that similar). The only bassist in the genre I've seen use them are Greg from Brainoil (great Bay Area sludge band), and formally Joe from Pallbearer.
I've always dug the Guild basses but don't have any personal experience playing it outside of music stores. Before switching to Yamaha, I saw Mlny from Royal Thunder playing a Guild and it sounded great! For me, it's up there w/ an Ovation Magnum for classic but less common basses. Not that this is any help, but I always thought the B301 inspired fretless EGC that Sandford Parker's played with Minsk was rad!
When i switched to using the gigrig i decided i would go ahead and try their modular power supply system. Honestly its great o dont have any strange noises and its pretty convenient to expand. I just need to get one of their 500ma modules to hook into the avalanche run instead of the normal isolation block. So that its not sucking all the juice out of the block its connected to.

I had one, a DMZ I think, a long long time ago. It sucked. I think they still suck. Their prices are over inflated because of the aluminum angle, but they're nowhere near close to a Travis Bean or EGC. I've owned all three, and still have my EGC bolt on.

Hi guys, anyone has any information about Steve Austin (Today is the day) rig? I only know from some photos that he uses a Mesa-Boogie head, but you can't find him on equipboard and he doesn't say much in interviews

Don’t know much about his gear besides the prs guitars, Mesa heads and emperor cabs.
Link Removed is a link to his studio gear but it doesn’t get into pedals. I assuming his rig went through a major overhaul when they had that van rack a couple years ago.
You could always send him an email? He might answer.
