Yep. I bought 3" thick acoustic dampening rockwool insulation. Built frames out of 1x3 pine. Covered it in polyester fabric using spray adhesive. One pack of insulation contains 12 'batts' (pieces) each one about 16" wide and 4' long.

I'm tempted by the new Boss Dimension C reissue. Hadn't heard of the "Waza Craft" series before.

They look great. I’m using a EHX Bass Clone which I like a lot but isn’t super noticeable with really loud guitars and drums.

He might answer. They are great but not a super popular band. Steve has a reputation or being a little flakey but seems to aprishiate his fans. the worst he can do is not answer.

Nerd question- I've been jamming with two guitarist who are awesome musicians. We're looking for a drummer and trying to figure out the singer situation. I am thinking about giving singing a try. While I need some practice, I'm okay w/ my singing and screaming voice. My problem is I am always yawning . Does anyone have suggestions? I have met heard one or two people mention the Art of Screaming app, but I'm reluctant... It's endorsed by the dude from Alien Ant Farm, which means nothing to me.

I bet he'd answer. I've been fortunate enough to spend a good deal of time with Steve and, although he can be blunt, I find him thoughtful and really kind, at least to me and my band-mates. Sometimes guys get possessive about their sound and gear and they wont want to talk about it with fans. I'm not sure how he feels about that. I can tell you we discussed his rig last time I saw him and he had made some changes. He talked about it for awhile with my guitar player, but I zoned out cause, you know, I'm a bass player

Took some snaps of the new shipping container rehearsal spot down by the Santa Cruz harbor. It's pretty cool. And weirdly enough, I prefer my funky solid state head and 2x15 franken-Peavey cab over the SVT there.

Man, that is really cool. Ton of room too.

We went from renting a nice size room in a big warehouse full of them (great for space but constant roof leaks, A/C always breaking - brutal in a building in New Orleans with no ventilation, bathroom out of a horror movie, deafening sound bleed from bands on each side of you, lugging gear up/down stairs every time there is a gig). We moved into a room in our drummer's house. May be kind of tight (standard size bedroom), but it is ours, clean, no sound bleed in/out, and no fear of our gear being in imminent danger of fire (we kept an extinguisher and fire axe in our room in case the damn place went up during a practice - it was a death trap), water, or theft! The clean/bathroom part may not sound very rock or metal, but seriously. The bathroom was disgusting in this building. Way worse than any dive bar we play. Mix that in with the lazy shags that would piss in beer bottles and put outside there room in the hallway or the dude just pissing on the floor of the hallway.

What do you mean yawning? Like screaming makes you yawn or like you cant stop yawning all the time? The Zen of screaming series is pretty much gold standard on propper screaming video courses from my understanding. Ive never actually watched it tho.

I've been working on the whole learning to sing thing lately with my partner and its been going decently well... but screaming! that sounds like something that I want to look into.

Ive been screaming for awhile now. Ive been told i sound like a man having his kidneys removed with a hot knife. Its very stress relieving. I always feel better afterwards id recommend it.

New Amp Day!! The Tyler JT100. Marshall Super Bass clone with a master volume. 100w, absolutely zippo clean headroom, its glorious. Bridge the channels, dime the master and pump the channel volumes as hard as you can stand. Set it 0-10-0 if you want Lemmy. The bass big muff loves this amp, sounding titanic! I am going to have to push it pretty damn hard to keep up with my guitarists Marshall jcm800 halfstack (50w thankfully), but thats what I wanted. Who wants to play a tube amp on 2 anyway?
I'm hooked on tube amps, already plotting another, lol. But thinking of maybe swapping the gk cab for a 2x15...

Drummer didn't show yesterday, just as well, sounded like a flake. But I got another lead on a drummer and a vocalist.

I don't have that particular brand of courage either, actually. I have been lucky to open for TITD a few times and Steve, and whoever he is playing with, have always been friendly and complimentary. This tends to be true of most bands and musicians, it turns out. Just normal dudes. If you're on the same show or event, the ice is somehow broken, and then you can just be people.

Any of y'all record your practice sessions? If you do, how do you go about out doing it in a time effective manner that doesn't eat into practice time or whatever?
I have audio interfaces and condenser mics so i've been thinking about just tossing one up in the middle or the edge of our practice space and just recording it that way on my laptop but like, that takes time to set up and get going and stuff. I thought about getting a small mic for my phone and using that but that seems fiddly.

Right now i'm borrowing one of those handheld zoom recorder things and that works really well and takes no time to setup... but its not a super high priority to get as I need to get some more grindy distortion and moar wattage first.

I got a zoom h4n. Works ok and super fast to setup like you said.
It’s by far the most used piece of recording gear i own. It was also my USB interface for my Mac for a few years.
Zoom customer support is atrocious however.

Right on. My buddy who's letting me borrow his wants it back soooon so i'm starting to look at options. I'll be on the lookout for one once I get my amp situation figured out I think...

Also how is sound quality on your h4n and how is it with loud environments?

It’s pretty good. It only sounds as good as it does in the room if your using it for recording rehearsals. The pre amps are descent as an interface
