Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

No comment on the sound of the pedal, but since you were looking for overdrive pedals it may be of help to know the Way Huge Saucy is the Stupid Deal of the Day for... well, the rest of today I suppose?

In other news, Prunes and Custard in hand. Gloriously...err...what do you even call these sounds? Whatever they are, achievement unlocked.

From my understanding, the Saucy Box is a stripped-down Pork Loin. So if you’re into that tone, this could be a great deal. Always interested in one, but never tried one yet, although my modded Pork Loin is simply one of the best dirt pedals I’ve ever played.

Nice find! At that price, totally worth trying out. If I hate it, they average $92 on reverb so Ill easily get my 69 bucks back. Got one on the way.

Yo!......... long time no speak. I recognize no one but Sam, lol. rutrho, what's your budget? probably going to repeat a lot of what's already said. If you want grind DG isn't the way to go. VMT might be ok for low gain tones but the Bk series is dark and scooped. Porkloin is also very mild and flat sounding. It will also cut some high end if not the most current version or moded. DOD 250 is Sleep sonic titan in a box with a ric (og live version) but cuts lows. Rat based pedals are awesome but cut some lows depending the model. Most older un-moded rats will but just a hair shy but you really have to crank the volume. That is unless you base your rig around the pedal.

Regarding the Rusty Box, here's a Link Removed interview I read a while back between Kurt Ballou and Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City). When talking about the Rusty Box, Evans says how he likes it mid grind on bass while Ballou likes for scooped bass. Kind of funny, though more confusing than anything for the "best grindy mid pedal" conversation.

For live music, I saw local heavies Glacial Tomb and Call of the Void last Friday. It was a rad show that could have been builded as a drum clinic, totally ridiculous. I'm going to see Daughters tonight. I can't stop jamming their new album and the new Cult Leader.

Questions about fuzz. What is your favorite fuzz for bass and guitar? I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket. My hx effects does a lot of things really well but the fuzz is leaving me a little unimpressed. I only have 1 board so something that works well on both is a plus.

DOD Carcosa with the occasional stacking of an OD in front of it.

Ive been rocking a mountainking megalith on bass for awhile now and its awesome for me. My fuzz experience is q little more shallow than somw of these other dudes. I have a GGG tuned muff i like on guitar.

I love my Fuzzrosious Rat/Cat Tail and Grey Stache on guitar and bass. They sound great stacked or solo. The Grey Stache has a kill switch that is pretty useless. I like killswitches, just not on pedals.

The Rat/Cat Tail is actually awesome for the aforementioned grindy mids.
