Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Played a show last night, turnout was disappointing so we'll consider it a lesson learned. All the bands were really good. Black Pussy were the standouts for me. Really loved their set.

We got to soundcheck before the show. No one was really paying attention, when it was my turn I turned on the Dunwich VT. Almost instantly people's heads turned to the stage to check it out. First time I use the VT at full gig/practice volume, it was pretty freakin rad. Got lots of questions about it.

Soundcheck went well, then it was time to play something happened on stage. I could not hear anything anymore. It was just a muddy mess. Apparently it sounded good out front but I hate those shows when you just spend it worrying about what the crowd is hearing because all I could hear was a big boomy kick drum.

On a brighter note, my F212 should be done this week. I told Dave at Gigmaster to prioritize his other customers as I am not hurting for cabs. Super excited for this cab as it has a bit more "traditional" aesthetics than my previous cabs.

Oh and I may have my BFR sold. Have any of your dealt with international shipping/sales?

Weird. If she knows you guys, it would seem she'd have it pretty much dialed in. Did you ask about it after or during a break? All the equipment was functioning as designed? If all this was going on the up and up the only answer is:

nah we were the first of 4 bands and she was busy so I didn't really want to bother her. it was a good show overall, and I highly recommend you guys check out Black Pussy if they are ever near you.

No, none of their members post here. I've played with them before and am playing with them again this Saturday though. Good dudes and good band. Brendan their drummer is the guy who took over SHOD last year and runs Snakecharmer Booking, and also runs and organizes those Eye of the Stone Goat shows.

Man, I'm sore all over - spent yesterday cutting trees with the chainsaw and hauling/stacking wood. Not so good on the lower back.

Invited a friend up to the property to help me stack wood and do some camping - he came up the night before and proceeded to polish off a fifth of vodka, an entire ring baloney/kielbasa and most of my chips - then was too hungover to help out the next day when all the work had to be done. I had several beers and slept like poopie (dude snores LOUD), but got up yesterday and worked my ass off to get the job done, which was the point of the trip, after all.

Aside from all of that the guy was acting like an ass and being a back-handed passive aggressive dick the whole weekend. Why am I friends with this guy again?

It's good too see someone's true colors, but it's a bummer to realize that I don't want to be friends with this guy anymore.
