Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Morning gents.
Anybody have much experience with Orange Terror Bass amps? Just got one in and haven't gotten to use it with my pedals or in a band situation. Just tried it for a minute plugged straight in to make sure it actually worked. Pretty stoked to try it out. I've been using an Ampeg Micro VR since my Orange AD200B has been sidelined for months with broken fuse caps. Been waiting for some new ones for like 6 months and was missing that Orange tone so got a Terror Bass 500 on a whim. I enjoyed the portability of the ampeg but it never really had enough juice for shows.

Morning fellas - got a pre-migraine aura thing going on - can't see my monitor very well so excuse any typos.

Bag End is classy stuff and a great company. The company I work for is a Bag End dealer and the owner of the company will show up in his van to personally deliver product.

One of my coworkers has an ancient Peavey power amp, sansamp and a Bag End 1x18 that's probably deeper than it is wide - sounds AMAZING.
If you ice the back of your head for 5 minutes right when the aura starts sometimes you can stop a full blown migraine from starting. Also if you work in healthcare or have a family member with COPD you can run high flow O2 for like 3-4 minutes and it will usually prevent the full migraine from triggering or break a full blown migraine. Samsquanch if you're getting migraines that frequently they do have prophylactic meds that actually work now. I used to have daily migraines too but with meds I've gotten them down to once every 6-8 weeks or so and only one that feels like I'm going to die every 9 mos or so. Also an every day migraine can sometimes mean you have a brain tumor or a leak in your spinal column if the migraine is positional and gets better by switching from vertical/horizontal.

Can the gk mb500 do that??

Does it have a FX send/receive or a Pre/Pwr in out?

Let me look it up.

More than a few guys in here run a Terror. It is a good amp for sure.

They've been getting more frequent lately - usually 4-6 ibuprofen will make it tolerable enough to get through the day, sometimes not. I've got a big day of business meetings with vendors, which I guess is better than sitting in front of a computer (pretty much useless until this passes - can't read excel sheets to save my life right now). I just hope they don't see me wincing from a burst of eye-stabbing and think I'm wincing at something they said.

Luckily it's all people I know and have worked with a lot in the past - so it shouldn't be too bad.

If it gets really bad I'm heading home for a beer and some quality time with a dark room.
Just tell them you have a migraine brewing, they'll be fine with that, I'd assume.

Migraines are a strange illness to deal with, especially at work. I call them instant retards when they have me reading my work over and over again and double-checking my math over and over, or hiding on TB because I am worthless. Started getting them at 35 off and on and now they are daily. Just had blood work done twice in a month's time to make sure no auto-immune stuff is going on. So now my doctor has my pounding Vitamin D which was super low and getting Testosterone shots, also super low. Supposed to take 9 weeks to feel the effects of the shots, but there have been recent studies of low T causing migraines, confusion, and dizzy spells. Just mentioning it to make sure your doc does blood work and not just looking for the simple stuff they usually look for. Also I have been hitting the vitamin D 5000 units hard for a few weeks now and noticed the eye stabbing migraines have gone down to once a week from 2 to 3 a week. So you might want to look into that. I was kind of pissed I have been going to my doctor, neurologist, and an ENT/allergist for years and now one ever bothered to send me for advanced blood work and may have found some relief years ago.

I've run into the power amp of my GK via the fx return before. If I remember correctly though, it was a little goofy. It was right when I bought the MB800, so it's a little fuzzy, but I think it kept the EQ in or something like that.

No preventatives have worked on me yet that my neurologist has been trying on me over the years(I am his special case). Abortive medicines work decent for the eye stabbers. I have gone a few times for MRI's and doc saw some minimal blockage but after a follow up MRI he felt strongly is was just genetics and not the cause of the migraines. I don't have the usual triggers either, so kind of an odd thing going on with me. I am actually hoping it is the low testosterone causing my issues. If in a few months the shots don't work my regular doctor is going to send me to the medical college in Richmond to make sure my neurologist isn't missing something and just so I can been seen by the team of neurologist over there since I am kind of outside the normal migraine realm.

I've had them on and off since I was in junior high school - no real triggers that I know of, I've tried every preventative thing out there. What I've really found to work the best is a handful of ibuprofen chased with a beer as soon as I start to notice aura symptoms. It won't kill the migraine but it takes just enough of the edge off.

I don't like the recent increased frequency, if it keeps up I'll have to see my worthless Primary Care doc. Not in a hurry to go down that road.

Yeah two aleve and an immitrex for the eye stabbers, or 4 Excedrin migraine, sometimes 2 tramadol work for me. I hate taking the Excedrin migraine though. Sometimes I just take two aleve two ibuprofen with a caffeine pill and that will help too. Yeah increased frequency and pills only holding it off for a short time are the change that really sucks. Go back to the doc and ask for proper blood work. I can never figure out a trigger, I blame it on barometric pressure changes and computer work but I have glasses for eye strain, and the weather is easy to blame it on in Virginia as it is always changing. Migraines are so damn tricky for the doctor's to figure out and much less by me.

No I'm not using the BDDI with the VT-RM... Infact this board is going to be the home unit soon and will be taking the needful units over to a JR or Mini sometime soon. I'm in no need for a bunch of pedals in preactice or live. I need a good tone and leave it. Not going to monkey with envelope filters, delay, eco octive divider pedals in this band just yet.
Forgot to ask - is that a Sansamp on the board as well? Are you using both of those at the same time? That paired with the rackmount T21 preamp is like Supa Scoopa and Mighty Scoop. (See what I did there?)
