What wah pedal do you guys like? Drummer and I are talking about a heavy bass and drum project mostly for studio and recording fun. I’m gonna ditch my ehx bass mono synth and want a wah instead. The Dunlop bass wah seems cool and so does the geezer. Any others that sound food with a bunch of fuzz?
I love the Dunlop mini. Takes up minimal space on the board. Sounds great.
Dunlop Cry Baby 535Q Multi-Wah. The Q Dial (adjustable frequency range sweep) is very helpful in finding just the right sweet spot across different basses/ ODs/ Fuzzes/ Distortions. Being able to find the best center, based on what's plugged into your chain will help with tone as well as sitting in a mix
The wahs aren’t bad at all. The biggest thing is I really like the mod delay and reverbs. You get 6 blocks at a time without a bunch of scenes and presets so I save some space with a couple other pedals. That also frees my expression pedal for delay feedback or setting the rate of a phaser.

That’s another one I’ve considered. Seems to be something I could really dial in
Is the mini hard to use at all? Space saving is always a plus but I’ve never tried a mini expression pedal. The ons that have a spring to toe back up is something I would like too I think
Mine is the full size but has the 'clickless' operation. Just step on it and move the pedal slightly and it goes into 'wah mode'
My experience: I tried a mini, loved it at the store and bought it. When I got home and put it on the pedalboard, I hated it. Went back to the store, exchanged the mini for the full sized version and haven't looked back once.
What genre do you play?
I'm in a bass/drums duo too! Making it interesting is quite challenging
I'm asking bc I got an HX recently- Why not get a second expression pedal and set the wah as a non-swtiched pedal?
The mini replaced the full size Crybaby I had before. True bypass is a big plus. I can’t say for me it’s any harder to use. Like anything else you get used to it.
Watched some Geezer Butler vids in prep for my new jam thang, and, Dear God, his right hand must just be in agony after a show.

The plan is for a heavy psych or doom vibe. Maybe something with a year of the cobra influence. I like heavy riffs and prefer clean vocals. Writing I think will be a lot of fun and a challenge. See how far we can push our boundaries as a duo.
The plan is to use the HX to split my signal into a guitar and bass rig. I’ll take an OD into my svt and 810. Run a split block and be able to add a guitar ish tone and put that to a Randall RD45 and diy 212.
I’m already using the switched jack for amp channels on the Randall and 1 loop for 4 cable to keep the delays and reverb out of the preamp. So the second expression is controlling feedback or rate or whatever on some effect.
Basically I’m using blocks I don’t necessarily see to split EQ/high pass the different signal paths. To keep the HX processing down and the number of blocks I can turn on and off a couple individual pedals seem to be a good trade.
Hopefully that makes sense.
