Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Both of my V4s are out of commission. One blew a fuse which usually means something else is wrong and the other sounds really farty and overdriven, even at low volumes. I ended up using my Ashdown to get through rehearsal tonight. It's a bummer, I was hoping to record our demo with them on the 20th, but I doubt they will be fixed in time. I'm picking up my Sunn from the shop tomorrow and suppose I'll be dropping off both V4s.

Well, Hartman is blowing out a bunch of what I assume is old DOD stock. Got a new 440 Envelope Filter arriving soon...

Can’t get enough DOD and I have a soft spot for filters, too. Slowly getting all of the old DOD reissues and new things. Hopefully, they blow out a few other pedals soon too!

Not too bad a price since they upped the prices on all of em to $149. Did they drop em down to the $35-50 they did a while back with the boneshaker?

I'll probably wait it out till they do that, if they do. I got a soft spot for them too.

No, $65, but that’s better than any used prices I’ve seen for the 440. About half, actually. Each pedal was priced differently.

Wow didn't realize it went up that much for used too. Maybe the genius has been noticed hahaha, or just the hipster trends to try to find the next hottest thing. I know they weren't huge initial runs, I wonder if they did more production runs or if they've just become that popular and Harman bought all the NOS.

that’s a bummer. I had a V4B from the mid 70s with original tubes and that thing was awesome. I now wish I still had it and not the svt just for the grind.

Who is your amp tech? Pretty happy with their work? I need to have my V4B in for a checkup sometime soon.

Harman is the parent company - no purchase necessary! They blew out the Gonkulator few months ago. I jumped on that one too. The compressor and 250 are also currently on sale, but not as good of a deal as the filter.

Late as usual, but I’ve got all the cds somewhat organized and pictured. Not sure the thread really needs 30 pictures unless y’all really want to browse everything. I’m honestly not sure what all is in there since I’ve had some of these since my early teens, but everything has the correct cd in it. I know there is lots of country stuff from my wife, but I’ve got more punk and jam band stuff than probably anything. Some old grunge stuff is in there too. I’m happy to send pics or whatever. Yard sale is Friday lol.

It was honestly kind of weird to go back through these cds that I haven’t touched in a year or two and actually see what all I had. Those 30 pics are just what I’ve found so far. I have no doubt there are that much or more still to be found.

I’m not ashamed one bit at my music taste, and still listen to some of these bands. Granted it’s not with the same veracity that I once did, but still, good music is good. My wife now listens to Wovenhand and Sleep so that’s a plus. Lol I still don’t listen to Diamond Rio unless it’s on Sirius and she’s driving. Ha!

Oh dang, I would have jumped on that too, I gotta keep an eye on their site!

How do you like the reissue gonkulator? It's towards the bottom of my tryout list, but just because I'm not sure if I'd use it much.

I mean, I bought it solely for weirdness, so it fits that bill nicely. Haven’t really found a use for it, but I only paid like $40 for it when they blew it out so I can’t really complain.

You have to go in the Harman website to find the deals. They’re listed under Digitech on their sales portion of the site.

Of all the gear I’ve sold, I’ve only had one real regret. In a moment of $ needs, I sold a natural MIM p-bass. It was far from the nicest or most expensive bass I’ve owned or sold, but it just had some mojo that I really connected with. Months after the sale, I messaged the buyer and asked that he keep me in mind if he ever decides to sell the bass. Six months later, he message me and asked if I was still interested. I picked her up yesterday and I’m happy to say if feels great having her back!
