Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Yeah just let me know. If you get a chance to try the new Ibanez headless multiscale at NAMM I'd love to hear more about it. As things stand I'm itching to pull the trigger on that one as soon as they go on sale.
I love it! My only, stupid, nitpicky complaint, is that the black covers the whole horn, and doesn't have any silver. I thought the silver would be farther up the body, letting the silver show above the active/passive control plate. In this case, it angles into the plastic and metal joining. Otherwise, it sounds so damn good!
I'm actually considering selling it at cost-ish to see if it can get a better painted one. Since I've only put about an hour on it and all the plastic is still there, is be selling it basically as new/100% mint.
PLEASE feel free to talk me out of that, since I've been drinking all day...I really do love the feel and sound, and I recognize how stupid that would be!
Especially since they're once again out of production on the fender website

Yep! Please tell me is be so stupid to sell it for a cosmetic... Not imperfection... Just... Something slightly less than what I was expecting?
Okay. I will. I get that you want what you want, but I jut looked at about 50 pictures, and only a couple had even the slightest hint of silver on the horn poking out from behind the switch plate. Even the one dude is holding in this picture is pretty much full black on the horn starting at the switch plate. I think you could buy 100 basses and not get the sliver of paint youre looking for.

yeah it does.... the paint doesn't follow the contour. hmm. if you think you can flip it and get something you're more satisfied with, i say go for it.
I'm only this particular when I'm inebriated, but it kinda feels like I paid new bass prices for a b-stock bass, I dunno. It's like that thread on your shirt that you can't pull but you just KNOW it's there!
Well, since I'm the guy who thinks "I wonder where the first chip is going to be?" when I get a new bass (I'm hard on stuff). I wouldn't worry about it. If it's not brown, who cares? If it sounds like you like, I'd just enjoy the bastard.
Plus, now I'm gonna be looking around for the Jag bass you guys have me GASing for. So, I'd say enjoy it.

I keep thinking about the 10th Anniversary Dingwall with the Darkglass stuff on it.
When I tried a Dingwall it felt weird. It wasn't the scale length as much as the neck profile.
The picture of the one Troy has looks about the same. I wouldn't sweat that if I were you.
I haven't had a chance to play the full Fender Sanders, but the Squier was an amazingly good bass for the price. One of the few Fenders I've liked.
I haven't even taken the plastic off... I'm going to let it fall off on its own if at all ... But I take your point. Unless it sells in the next 2 days, I'm gonna knock it against something and take away the "like new" status as a matter of course. No avoiding it, especially if I want to play it, like AT ALL.

on the topic of bass names... someone on the "light" side of TB is asking for help giving his new parts bass a name. Im not a big fan of assigning those types of labels to instruments, myself, so I call mine by their make or model or color or whatever. I like descriptive words.
Anyway, he sad it's going to be red toned and he's going to use it for church gigs. I'm so tempted to post something like this statement below but Im almost certain to get axed by the admins. But, I can share it with you fine gents and ladies knowing that you know a joke when you see one:
"For church gigs, with a red-ish bass? You really couldn't go wrong with calling it "The Devil". Then you could play the poopie out if it in the name of the lord. "Praise jesus! The devil has be slain!""
