Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

give me an ampeg 810 and i could not care less about the rest of the gear, it will stillwork for me, assuming the bass is playable.
Not all Ampeg 810s are created equal. It would seem that they have gone through some rough patches over the decades.
I can live with an 810 more than a the usual SVT-CL that goes along with them. I just can't make that head work for me. The EQ is too limited.

I have a SLM 810 and I don’t hate it like a lot of people do. I think people have a negative opinion of them because the are made of chip board/pressed wood rather than plywood which is pretty cheap of SLM.
I find my 212AV sounds pretty comparable to my 810 with my SVT CL.
But the 212 is one of my better purchases - way more convenient.

I hope your digging the rusty box man.

Oh hell yeah. I'd honestly bought it off you because I was curious after hearing so much about it here, but it turned out to be just what I needed to both brighten and tighten my rig's sound up. I'd been using very warm, very tubey preamps before and they just didn't have the right chemistry with my Thunderbirds. The Box, though... the Box loooooooves my Thunderbirds. :D

i just find the SLM too dark and boomy, the chipboard doesn't bother me.

Been changing up my board a little this weekend. Not 100% yet, but getting there. Completely a mess; I know.

I'm just trying to spend some quality time with some of the new pedals. Couple surprises so far. Might have to make a separate/second board hahaha!

The Locust for bass is always a good thing. Never used one, but I've known a couple guys who did and they sounded great live with it.

How do ya like the mxr octave fuzz? Clips sound bad ass, it's near the top of my list of pedals to check out.

Less than 10 miles away but I've still got to wait at least another day!

As long as it arrives safe, though, the wait will have been worth it.

I'm going to rehersal in 10 mins and the FedEx hub in Murfreesboro that it's stuck at until Monday is literally on my way to the studio. Now I have the opportunity to see the shelf it's sitting on but not get the item until at least tomorrow. Kinda feels like a ruined orgasm :rollno:

Too much?

I haven't been very active lately, but this message

Nobody came over here, and I didn't go anywhere. I had no invitations. I think this bothers me more than I am willing to admit, because it shines the light on how alone I really am at this point in my life. I have plenty of acquaintances IRL. Friends? I dunno. Seems like the people I can be more emotionally real with are online, and although I'm grateful for y'all, and the opportunity to meet a few of you in 3D, it's strange to me how I haven't been able to cultivate those relationships with people around me.

brought me here.
I miss a lot the good times I've been having here. This thread may be the only place where I feel I belong right now. I just really wasn't in the mood for laughing these last months. But I read this message and just felt the need to come by and say "hello".

I feel ya my new tubes are at the UPS hub 10 minutes from my house. This whole week has been a mess for shipping.

I really like it. The fuzz by itself is very useable. The octave is really cool. Sounds like the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe, but with only the smooth octave. I’m assuming it is just a simpler variation of that circuit too, but idk. The two different fuzz textures are both cool and very different. The winner on it is the eq and the mid pot in particular.

These are the next pedals I’m going to try to find a home for on board and sell the rest. Minus the Hellbilly. Pretty sure it will never leave.

Been there too. Same FedEx hub even. I’m not far from you really. Just up I24 and then I69 into Kentucky.

Thoughts on the Aqua Puss? Love the Echo Puss - it’s my favorite Delay.

300ish milliseconds of warm analog goodness. Great for texture with just about any other effect really. I prefer it set a little longer than slapback, slightly lower volume than dry signal, with 3-5 repeats. I use it mainly with verb or some type of modulation. Repeats darken and mesh together well imho.

Nice to know you're not dead, i hope you get in a better mood soon
Thanks mate :)
This year is having the bleakest ending ever. I hope all this misery will be the fuel to make something meaningful with the band, at least… But I don't feel constructive yet, just getting stoned all day, everyday. Maybe I should have bought another "comfort amp" instead of all that weed LOL
Anyways, as long as it hurts it means I'm still alive :blackeye:
