It really does not seem like an isolated case, the guy on menga.net says the same thing about their guitar strings, so i've never tried them on bass

I also assemblied a couple of shelves I bought for our reharsal space, and tidied up everything. Now all cables, drums hardware, drumsticks, picks, pedals and manuals are perfectly organized
Oh god I had the exact same thing happen to me with a set of Daddario chromes about two or three years backToday I broke my first string. Such a shame it was a brand new Ernie Ball Cobalt I was just putting on the Kramer. The most expensive strings I ever bought.

And it was a 110 E stringI couldn't even play a bit and hear how they sound.
F**k you Ernie Ball, you and your overpriced crap strings. Next weekend I put new Daddarios and I doubt I will ever "experiment" again.
I wish I had read these opinions before I threw 27€ in the trash.
I never tried the Chromes...Oh god I had the exact same thing happen to me with a set of Daddario chromes about two or three years back
I have always been using Prosteels, at least these ones are sturdy.
I think I have a set of EB 105s on a bass now and they’re a lot like I remember from high school just kind of meh. Ok nothing great I’m a pretty big fan of DR strings. I’ve used lo riders and pure blues quite a bit. I also really like the NYXL from daddario. My SG is wearing DR pure blues right now and they’re awesome.
These always appealed to me. Quite expensive but hopefully better quality than Ernie Balls
Maybe next time I want to try a new flavour I'll go for these ones.
ETA: Better they don't break easily because I just checked and they cost 35€ in Europe

Did that myself recently, but not just on a band room level - it’s been the whole house! And now that all my OCD has been satisfied, I’ve been more able to sit down and learn songs. Yay productivity!
I only use the eb orange packs.

I have a ton of EB green strings that were given to me for free that I might use but I prefer stainless strings. For flats I use chromes but I’ve been really wanting to branch out and try labella LTs and TI flats

Lo riders are dope, I’ve been thinking about switching back to them on my standard tuning T-bird. I have hi-beams on it now and wish I didn’t, when they wear a bit more it’s either lo riders or back to fat beams.
I’ve tried so many different strings in the past few years it’s not even funny. I always come back to DR stuff. Black Beauties in specific. I do like Chromes, but the DR flats are just as good or slightly better imo. I’ve gotten a bad set or two before. Mostly Fender brand though.

I Just had my D string from my EB flats break. The actual meat of the string isn't even the part that broke though, it was the skinny part at the tuning end. I had taken my strings off to make some PUP adjustments and when I started to turn the tuning key about 4 inches just snapped off the end. I think EB strings are just more brittle than typical strings. Luckily I ordered from Sweetwater, and they sent me a whole new pack for free. Strongly considering getting different strings though. Love the sound, hate the tension, especially when drop tuned. This is my first problem I've ever had with any set of EB's. Hopefully it'll be my last.

Bummer to hear, I've never used the regular cobalts. I've used a set of the Cobalt flats without issue.
I almost strictly use the orange pack of slinkys. Only had one string break on an old set in all my 16 years of playing slinkys. I'm pretty hard on em too. Maybe bad batch? Or maybe just that line is bad.
I never kept track, but I use maybe 4 sets a year on average. I admit the slinkys die sooner than others, but they are cheap. I do need to experiment more.
I think I did the same thing, or just go into the store and they gave me another set. Wouldn't be surprised if EB does this for breaks on install.

? I think the skinny part at the tunning end is the core -i.e. "meat". IMO Re-installing always raises the risk, too. If you look at a removed string, there are usually kinks at nut and saddle contact points and the tuner that are much more prone to breakage on re-installation. I'm kinda bummed on the reports of broken EB's. I thought I remembered there being a rash of Cobalt Flat failures early on, and I have a set I've been waiting to try. I do have a set of what I believe are EB flats (group #, not slinky)that came on a favorite P that have been off and on and are great.
Unfortunately the Italian customer support does not replace strings directly. You have to send the broken string to the American Ernie Ball offices so they can verify if it was defective and if so, they'll send you a replacement (translated from the FAQ section in the Italian Ernie Ball website)
Yeah, sure. Rather than spending 30-40€ to ship them to the USA, I go and buy a set of Lo-riders for the same price

Anyone here been to Fire In The Mountains festival in Wyoming? It's just a few miles east of the Grand Teton (and all of Grand Teton Nat'l Park for that matter). They actually set up the stage(s) with the Tetons as the back-drop. Needless to say, they announced YOB and there are a few other bands going that I'm definitely interested in seeing. So...ticket has been purchased. Should be an awesome weekend of playing in the mountains, rocking out, and looking at beautiful scenery.
