It is indeed Yankee talk, and may I never be confused for anything else.
FWIW, I grew up in Chicago; it can be oppressively humid there in the summer... but Houston is unbearable. I don't understand how people do it.
I’ll be at the Louisville Ky show. Saw OM a few years ago. Sleep twice. You won’t come back the same.
Yeah, it's Definitely an acquired taste. The best part is since it rains here so often my a** kicking allergies are kept in check since it keeps all the dust and pollen out of the air. I'm also very much a warm weather guy. I've never been to Chicago in winter but considering that I find Dallas winter unbearable I don't think I'd enjoy it!
But if you're ever gigging down here again let me know and I'll do my best to come and see the show. I'll get you some COLD drinks.

I highly recommend getting as close to Al's rig as possible. Bass tone nirvana.That is exactly what I wanted to hear, now I'm just more excited
Generally Colorado is nice, however, we too have wild changes in weather.
For instance, I rode my motorcycle in the foothills for 6 hours last Sunday, today schools are closed and we've received over 6 inches of snow in my neighborhood.
Missouri. Ditto. This week I literally went from yard work in shorts and a sleeveless tank top on Sunday to shoveling ice and sleet off the driveway Wednesday.

Not to 1 up, but I've never seen anything like Michigan weather. Seen a foot of snow melt the next day. I've had outdoor practice the whole of January before too.
Wouldn't worry about it. P's are pretty common in the genres it seems. Just not the vast majority you see elsewhere.
I can't wait to have time to try the one at the local store. If I like it, I might see if the lady will let me take a loan out from our joint savings.

Ha! come to the southern plains where the sky regularly just tries to open up an kill you at random intervals before you complain about variable weather. 
We even get them out of season on a regular basis these days (tornadoes on Christmas, why not?). Ok, truth be told, I'll pick twister roulette over the certainty of shoveling snow any year. So, I live here. I feel for the folks who live north of the Red River and get both.
But ooof, Houston. Nice town, but it comes with a free 24x7 sauna and traffic jam. Well, they got rid of most of the traffic Jam, but the sauna is a permanent fixture.
I got the goofiest delay ever in the Idiotbox MEotMC last month. It's called "Sea Legs". It doesn't come with anything in the way of instructions, so it took me a bit to figure out what was going on - sort of. By default, it's a lo-fi delay with around 3 seconds of delay. He's pushing the chip to its limits, and the repeats are really broken up. The clear dot above the foot switch is a sensor of some sort (haven't verified for sure if it's a light sensor), and if you cover it, it turns the length of the delay much shorter, quickly getting to crazy squelchy noise. When you let off and uncover it, it unreels the length of the delay to make the repeats descend out in a really pleasing manner. It's kind of it's own difficult thing to control and be "musical", but I've had an endlessly enjoyable time screwing with it.

Any other make/models you'd suggest I look at that would fit the genre? Maybe an Epi SG?
I’m neither completely anti P (have a couple frankenP’s) nor an authority on what bass is right for any genre. that said, imho, ime & etc: I guess I’m making the assumption that down tuning and effects, most likely dirt, will be in play. Long scale, passive bass that you like the playability and looks of. If you’re down tuning, long scale helps and passive because some effect pedals don’t play nice with active basses.
Epi SG - I believe they make a long scale version - could be cool.
Thunderbird. When you absolutely have to destroy the hearing of every muthaf**ka in the room, accept no substitutes.
I tried an Epi Thunderbird at GC tonight and it was a complete mess. It must have been on the wall for a decade untouched. 
I'm going to try and find another that hasn't been so neglected to really see what I think of them. I played the new Fender American Ultra PJ and holy crap was it nice. Not sure it was $1900 nice, but very nice indeed.

The Epibirds are odd sometimes, aside from ones that are poorly maintained like that one some of them have some really weird design decisions. I had one for a while that had a maple/walnut laminate neck-thru, rather than the usual mahogany/walnut. It had aftermarket pickups too so I can't say for sure that the neck was what made it sound so diferent from a real Thunderbird, but it was enough that I'd carefully check out what neck wood an Epi's made of before seriously considering it.
