Probably. Something I've had on the GAS shortlist for a while. Though I am still in love with my parts p bass.
Oh and I have a short scale MiK epi eb-0 as my test instrument to see if 1. I can get a SS bass set up to doom properly in C standard [strings arrive today - Dunlop makes SS 5 string flats] and 2. If I dig the mudbucker sound in my band setting. I know the pickups are not exactly the same, but if it works out well enough [I do tend to prefer dark tones] I may move some gear and try to get the long scale gibbo - GC has one online for $999.

Man that thing is sick, with an OG mudbucker too by the looks of it! And the headstock
. I got an artec to throw in mine which I'd heard mixed reviews from the people on TB but they claim to be using the same specs as gibson was back in the day and it worked out well enough. In my extremely limited experience the mudbucker/J mix can get pretty doomy. I just got an ampeg BA 210 v2, and for a solid state amp it has a really good tubey tone that really brings out the fartyness of the mudbucker. When I turn the amp's on board distortion on is when it really shines. I've found that all of the low and mids of the mudbucker doesn't really like too much distortion though, the pickup itself provides a lot of character to make up for it IMO. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that I'm going through a SS amp rather than tubes though, and I'm not in a band setting at the moment either

Apropos of nothing, but I'm messing around with the Line6 HX Effects exploring some sounds and I hit upon an intriguing combo. I'm splitting the signal first, and then running one path into the Fuzz Face model and the other into the Maxon SD9 model. The Maxon adds a nice bite to the sound.
This is the main reason I got the Line6...so I can experiment with different sounds without the need to spend a ton of time and money playing the pedal swap game. I imagine once I hit upon a sound that really gives me the fizz I'll then want to get the actual pedals...or maybe not.

Heheheh, I had plenty of opportunities to fool with that era of EB-0 back in the day, but I never liked them. I had a pretty luscious SS 67 (IIRC) EB-0 that I still somewhat regret for selling to buy what was my biggest workhorse of a guitar amp several decades ago (a VT-22 combo, the perfect platform for a Super-Fuzz on guitar. So much thump). But, maybe I just played ones that were beat to death. At least it has what looks like a decent replacement bridge. The old not-very-adjustable bridge was the weak point even on my 67!
The Dunlop strings are pretty nice. The Epi seems to like them. Haven't had a minute to dive into the intonation adjustment. Not sure this bass would do BEAD tuning very well. The Dunlops are the rare 5 string flatwound short scale set. But that extra half step [I play in C std] definitely helps with the tension.
Always was curious to me that Geezer played a plexiglass Dan Armstrong during Masters and Vol4. That bass is SS. Though with 24 frets that may have helped. Where Sabbath first dropped routinely onto C# std I find it odd that Geezer went to ss basses.
Oh yeah, the SS that can do B without great care in your playing is pretty special. I was fooling around on my Mustang a few minutes ago, and even D gets kind of floppy on it for my "bash it and see if it sounds good" style. C# on a SS with my playing and no wonky-ness would be a very special beast.
Yesterday my curiosity got the better of me: I bought a Big Muff Pi without trying one first. In fact I've never tried any fuzz, so I was being very sensible. 
I gave it a spin, with a bass whose control cavity isn't shielded. Yuck! The Pi terribly enhances the 50 Hz hum.
I'll try it with the other bass, and I'll just keep procrastinating about shielding that cavity....

if you're playing in a loud band the hum really is not an issue unless the hum is louder than the actuall bass sound. otherwise think of it as some extra character

My entire set is just running a cable with the tip taped to a piece of metal into four stacked Muffs (Russian, Ram's Head, Triangle, and another Russian in that specific order) while I argue about the differences between quarter inch and speakOn connectors on talkbass dot com for fifty minutes straight.
Yeah, have you ever seen Geezer play back in the day? His technique is a bit more restrained now but he beat the poopie out of his basses in the seventies. And he did that regularly on shortscales. Amazing to me.
