Any of you ever get a custom pickguard? Recently got a guitar and want a pickguard for it. Problem is, it doesn’t come with one stock. So there’s no certain ones for “replacement” and not many people make one at all. The ones that do require me to finish them. So, any ideas/help? The guitar in question is an Ibanez RG7321.

Sorry bout that, thanks @ihaveaquestion. If it says anything about how cool these guys are. I saw them a few years back in Grand rapids on a Sunday. There were 5 others in the crowd, but they were still going wild like it was a packed show. Then afterwards they hung out and chatted with everyone that stayed.

There's not really a ton of room on that specific guitar FOR a pickguard. With that said, if you really want to see if you'd like one, you can use paper or card stock to make a template of the shape you'd like (you can experiment with cosmetics and plausibility by using double sided tape to hold your template on while playing, looking from different angles, etc.). Once you have the shape down solid, you can send that off to any number of pickguard makers and you'll have one in no time
I've used WD in the past for replacements and for PGs for instruments that didn't have one. They were excellent to deal with and their work was superb.

Thanks. I’ve seen pictures of exactly what I want, and that guy said he’d ordered it. (Granted, it was an ooooold post.). But I know I liked how it looks. And any idea about the truss rod cover? I assume they could do that too?

If they can't, TRC's are easy to find & alter to your needs. They are, generally speaking, much easier to make on your own too with some sheet plastic from a craft/ hobby store.

I’ve made a few. Would it be possible to modify one from a 6 string RG?

Looking at Ibanez's site, there are only a handful of RG's with PG's. I didn't see any 7 stringer RG's with PGs. To convert a PG from a 6 to a 7 string guitar should only require slight modifications, to account for the wider neck, pups and possibly the bridge, depending on your bridge (tremelo vs. non-tremolo, etc.).
Personally, I'd go with a custom one from WD. That way, you know for certain that it will fit and that you will like it before you invest your $$$

That cool. I found the Darkglass X7 worked great for S/D as well. Great rounchy top with tight bottom.

Yep, my main tone is from an Darkglass X with an additional pre-amp following it. So crunchy and clean, granted I don't do a lot of stoner stuff, but more sludge/post metal/whatever and its great for that.

Al's AOU settings are insane. He's got 500 Hz completely notched out and that is tons of high end. Would love to know what he's using that in conjunction with and how he's shaping/filtering after...

Look up herad on instagram. He’s a small shop doing aluminum pickguards, and might accept custom work

Looks like he uses a loop switcher & crossover on his D.I. for lo and hi bass. Lots of control over the tone there

I've heard of the 12 step by name only, but never knew about the Waldorf.

Is the 12 step a sequencer? The Waldorf looks like a ton of fun too.

I don't think he plays a regular 4003 with Om currently. He just plays his signature model and the five string for something like only one song.
