Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

HAY KIDDZ, so in my covid boredom I've decided to make this Conrad bass a little more better. Got a Supertone bridge on the way to deal with the intonation probs, but don't like the headstock jankyness. I put on a black pickguard years ago when I got it which looks better.

Thinking about sanding off the corrupted clear coat, or covering it with my '70s prism vinyl stuff, or maybe respraying it black. What would you do?

I don't know man, I think it looks mighty fine as is.

Sand it down, apply a thin wood veneer, reshape it as close to the Dan Armstrong/Ampeg headstock shape as you can.

I got nothin', really. Just playing along with the ol' iPod. Really liking the new bass. Still has rounds on it, and sounds pretty good via the old Korg PXB. I need to up my headphone game, though. Still using the el cheapo ones I got at Best Buy for $5.

So, I'm digging the new bass. Gettin' my Geddy on. Now, here's a question that I was going to post in "Basses" but didn't want to start a big ol' flame war. I ask you, since Ol' Scorchy is a parts bass with a full-size body and short scale neck, does the body size influence the tone? Comparing it to my SX P-bass, which has the slightly unfocused E, this bass seems to have a nice tight open E. there are a bunch of possible answers, so I ask in a vague way.

I had to buy headphones to use as monitor a few months ago, and after having read a ton of reviews I got Audio Technica ATH-M20x (I had a 50€ budget). They cost about 50$ in the USA too, as far as I can say they sound great but I am no pro!
oh yes! The audio techinica ATH headphones are great! I always use the M40xs when playing at home.

I've got an old pair of the ATH-M50 (not the M50x) headphones that I like, but after getting the Sennheisers I've found I prefer the around-the-ear design to the M50's on-the-ear design. That said, I usually end up using my M50s for bass practice.
