Oh no! I just read the news and apparently they're going to allow people to go outside of their town again, starting Sunday, right now that we had taken the big decision!? They ruined the excitement for us to do something illegal!! I guess we'll do drugs then

But seriously, good on you for taking your own destiny back. The horsesh1t we've all been fed and over-reach we're still dealing with has been waaaaay more destructive to people's livelihoods and mental states than a virus that actually has a really high survival rate. I could go on and on but this isn't that kind of forum....

Hell yeh so cool to see some of y'all building stuff like this. It makes it feel more accessible for when I want to do some DIY upgrading.

For my Bass related news I think I'm going to sticker bomb my doom bass because I'm tired of looking at my awful finish. Also considering a new wiring harness and taking out the J pup and just leaving the mudbucker. Going to try and wire it like an original EB-0. The two pups just don't seem to mix well. The whole quest started with attempting something akin to the tone of Mel Schacher from Grand Funk Railroad and although it's kind of hard to tell (based purely on images, research as far as interviews hasn't been helpful) it seems like he kept his tone and J-pup completely rolled back. I came to that same configuration on my bass without even knowing that so I'm thinking I may just toss the J-pup in a drawer for later. I'll leave an image of Mel playing so hopefully you guys see what I mean.

Side note: Does anyone else kinda get the chills just imagining standing in front of that rig with Mel's tone blasting? No, just me, okay ...

@ConfoundedBridg I know nothing about GFR other than the songs I've heard on the radio so I'm going to have to check it out more. Any songs in particular you'd recommend for getting an appreciation of Mel's sound?

"People let's stop the war" is the song that got me hooked (I make a bass face just hearing this song). but their first 4 or 5 albums have some really great stuff IMO. Anything off of "E Pluribus Funk" and the "Grand Funk" red album is kind of the tone I'm talking about. I think once you'll give them a few listens you'll see how much of a travesty it is that "American Band" and "Locomotion" are their only songs seeing any radio time these days.

Unfortunately this is how it often works. Like you always hear "The Wall" by the guys that made a heap of more interesting songs. In Classical music there are similar things going on.

I've always wanted a schwinn manta ray with the gear shifter at the crotch but i ended up getting a beach cruiser with a big old basket over the rear wheel. use it as much as i can to run errands so i don't have to drive around my gas-guzzling truck (looking like I'll have fewer than 3000 miles put on it for the year, mostly used driving to pick up old organs to cannibalize for amp parts)

I’ll agree on the not half bad. They were at the center of a mild kerfluffle a few years back for contradictory statements regarding how much they were influenced/copying Zeppelin.

Since I had only 3 octavers, I got myself a new one.
Eno T-cube, 2nd from right. Haven't tried it yet, but was eager to tell you. So.

Tried the T-cube. It is one of those typical guitar octave-up fuzzes. I don't play guitar, I bought it out of curiosity.

With my P the octave up sounds nicely crazy. The tiny knobs at the top are Dry, 1oct down, and 2oct down. Opening them all up a bit gives a sort of weird synth.

And it behaves predictably: my fingers find it all very easy to control.

That's a great toy at just €34 new.

Never knew he used a mudbucker! That explains his beefy tone that had a lot of drive to it. Always love his tone. They're a damn good band too!

What @themarshall said, I think they're pretty good, listened to the first album. Good one, hope they explore new space and separate themselves from the impression of being Zep. But that's just my thoughts, hope they keep doing their thing and don't slide to what sells only.
