Seriously though this is one of the most beautiful pedals I have ever heard. It's utterly amazing and I almost cried as I played it. The Terror button (feedback) is so good. A bit harsh but I'm sure it can be tamed. The pedal makes me feel like I'm on the cover of The Sciences.

Hey Rickenbacker dudes, if you changed your pickups what did you go with? I'm pretty sure the ones in this 4030 are the $40/ea. cheapos you find on eBay/Reverb (probably made in Chi-na) and they got zero thunder.......you get what you pay for. Assuming that anyone with a Ric in our thread probably just kept their stock pickups though. The Ric club thread has too much junk to sift through :cigar:

I forget what I used to have in my old one but I know it was vintage wound. I know nordstrand is so making one now.

So far I've got Joe Barden and Gemini (UK) in my sites. Duncan makes a Lemmy model too. Official Ric toasters are about the same $ as hardens, the HB1's are cheap. Just want something hotter with more pubes than these Chinese POS's. Ha!

Retrovibe is one I've been eyeing for a neck pickup. Heard good things, the prices are reasonable and they got most of the models and some hot rodded ones. I think they got a reverb store too. Once they start getting the bridge pup with the surround back in stock I'll probably grab one or a few.

Saw them and was wary of the low price, but they look hotter than Roswell's which are probably what I've got now or similar knockoffs. I pulled the trigger on those Hot 69s so we shall see.

P.s. the Rickenbacker club thread is a dead end for viable pickup data

I went with the classic amplification ones; wanted lower output pickups. Those were great. I know the nordstrand rick pup is high outpt.

Thanks! Just rubbed em down with minwax hardener. Old peavey max115 that I built new cabs for after the combo cab busted up during a punk show in highschool. Needs some cleaning up but is a damn good practice amp.

I was a bit wary as well, that's the same one I was looking at. It was either try that or up the bill to a good firebird pup or tv jones thunder'mag.

I've been on the fence for a while. I want something with some snarl at the neck. The cheapo firebird is great, but I bet I can get better clarity with a better pickup. Even the one I got has got tons of low-end.

Edit: not sure if he's still around, but I just remembered about "the creamery" out of the UK. Higher end, but sounds to be willing to too custom work too.

Look at Sentell pickups. I don't have experience with their rick pickups, but I bought a set of bass soapbars from him that are really nice
