Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Hi Everybody,

Completely random question...

I couldn't sleep last night, so to try to fall asleep I started naming bands off the top of my head that I like (or at least listen to occasionally) that have two names not including "The" as the first word or proper legal assigned names (e.g."The Sword" wouldn't count b/c the first word is "The").

Bands I love (or at least listen to sometimes) that fit this description (in no particular order after the first few):

White Zombie
Rob Zombie (Not his real/legal name, so I'm counting it)
Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Marilyn Manson (Not his real/legal name, so I'm counting it)
Linkin Park
Fear Factory
Limp Bizkit
Avenged Sevenfold
Arch Enemy
Beastie Boys
Black Moth
Orange Goblin
Monster Magnet
Pink Floyd
Saint Vitus
Smashing Pumpkins
Stone Sour
Skid Row (Once in a blue Moon)
Motley Crue (see comment above about Skid Row)
Velvet Revolver
AC/DC (Philosophical question I debated in my head- Does this one even count??? - Are "AC" and "DC" considered "words"???)

Feel free to share your own list b/c I'm sure there are a few others I couldn't come up with off the top of my head.

Realize this is kind of like playing the geography game or license plate game in the car when you're bored, but it got me wondering what kind of response I would get.

Thought about posting this to the General Forum, but more interested in feedback I'd get here as I might inadvertently stumble on a band that I'm unfamiliar with...

No wrong answers here (or judgement- If you look at my list there are PLENTY of shameless/"guilty pleasures" up there).

Thanks! \m/

NICE list!!!…

Dude, I can’t believe I forgot Electric Wizard and Red Fang…Shame on me…

Also-Yes I would count Dinosaur Jr (it’s technically two words even if one is abbreviated…

Thanks! \m/

Cock Robin
Alice Cooper
Larkin Poe
Violent Femmes
Within Temptation
Four Non Blondes (has a bonus word)
————-
Lol-Four Non Blondes makes me wonder if I should have included In This Moment (my Wife LOVES that band so I’ve heard a lot of their music)…Although if three names are allowed I’d HAVE to include Alice In Chains or Payable On Death (my favorite two favorite bands after Metallica)…

And lol-I thought about Alice Cooper as I was typing Marilyn Manson…

He’s a great artist but I don’t listen to a lot of his music which is why he wasn’t on my list…

…And any time I think of Alice Cooper my mind always jumps straight to this:

And with these words a great chasm split the Stoner/Doom thread in two, and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Much less of a chasm, and much more of:
old.jpg

russian circles
red sparrows
led zeppelin
bell witch
dying fetus
primitive man
goat whore
big business
cattle decapitation
glacial tomb
jaga jazzist
lynyrd skynyrd
weekend nachos
bad company
wutang clan
mahavishnu orchestra
weather report
still valley
native daughters
mutoid man
jesus lizard
big black
sugar cubes
fleetwood mac

also, both of my current bands, funeral mask and suicide cages

...When i first read @El_Charro's post, I thought it seemed dumb, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Then it become almost meditative. In idle moments, I find my mind wondering.

Hehehe, I came up with a few:
Sleep
Melvins
Kiss

But then my brain went and thought of The Red Crayoloa and The Familiar Ugly. Which has "the" in it twice. I can't think of any other band names that have that except The The. So, it's not unique, but The The is only one definite article. Are there any other band names that are composed of two definite articles?
