Hehehe, now that you mention it - no reason to not include those things in the other nutty songs I write. A show filled with what will probably be basically Butthole Surfers rip-offs, and then some exotica jazz to cleanse your palette.

Man, this Dunlop Justin Chancellor fuzz/wah is amazing. The fuzz by itself is great, and the wah pedal has two variations you can choose from. What blows me away is the setting where the fuzz only comes on with the wah itself. It makes your wah sound huge and roaring. I've found effects just dissapear in this band (volume, two downtuned guitars, etc). This cuts through like a buzz saw. You can actually get very synth-like with it too.
*I know someone is gonna ask about the amp. It is a friends custom built head. Its one of one. Very cool but the 60 watts was struggling to keep up.
I have, yes, but don't really know anything about it. It's well out of my price range, so I haven't even looked into it. The B3K was my longest-serving pedal at nearly a decade, but I don't really have any desire to get it back. Plenty of people use the B7K as a preamp to sweeten everything at the end of their chain, and I had to try the "DG flavor" again when I saw the incredible deal on the clone, but I still feel the distortion is lacking, and that there is a certain baked in DG tone to all of their distortions. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not what I'm going for. But I LOVE the PD7 into my "B7K". It's likely my favorite dirt tone ever, and it helps my other dirt just as much. If DG just had their EQ in pedal form, I'd snap that up ASAP. Anybody know of an EQ that does that? Otherwise, I feel I need to love the dirt included in the pedal for the price.

Couldn't you get there with any reasonable parametric EQ? You know the frequencies the DG EQ hits, so it'd just take experimenting with the Q (which I doubt they publish). Unless you want the "grunt" and "attack" switches as well...?
Indeed, I do. I've found they are key to the tones I like from the pedal. Surely, it can be done, but I'm not sure that's a very viable business option, so I'd have to have someone build it for me, and I doubt I have the scratch to pay for a circuit trace and build from the ground up. I honestly had thoughts like "if this distortion was replaced with the PD7 this would likely be the only dirt box I'd NEED for my favorite heavy tones". At the same time, I'm pretty much loving almost all of my dirt through it, so a standalone EQ box makes more sense.
Maybe, but I replaced my B3K with a PD7. Don't think I'd go back! That's why I'm thinking maybe one of DG's beefier circuits may serve me better.
Well it's a weird suggestion, but I'll just throw out there that the Line 6 HX Effects and HX Stomp have the B7K Ultra in them, in addition to TONS of other great stuff and an incredible breadth of capabilities. Neither will win cool points among effects nerds, but I absolutely love my HX Effects.
Likely also out of my price range, but thanks for the info! For now, perhaps adding another EQ in the chain to beef up the tones may help, and be the cheapest option. We'll see. Not like I'm playing much these days, and the tones are more than passable. Just after the "grail tone" like we all are! And thankfully, I have never aspired to be "cool". I mean, I play bass. And I enjoy it!

Agree that a lot of their pedals have a certain distortion sound…I personally LOVE that sound (I would almost describe it as a dirty “clank” sound)…
That being said-As much as I love that Darkglass distortion sound I also get that not every one likes that sound and it’s not always apt for the kind of music you are trying to play…
Sounds especially amazing in a Thrash or Death Metal setting IMO, but it doesn’t sound very fuzzed out/vintage/retro if you are playing Stoner or Doom Metal…

Pretty much agree with all of this, but it's hard for me to justify a few hundred dollars when I barely play twice a month lately. And of course, Youtube videos aren't as reliable as real world users. I'll likely be fine with my cheap clone, but I'm always wonder what could have been!
