Hell yeah. Fixated lately as well...I'll see you there, whatever the Denver venue ends up being.
Damn how were you able to get ahold of one of those 1978 preamps? Been wanting to try one of those for a while! Also cool 190.

Yeah saw that and everything when they came out, should have said all the other odd ball pedals that could be considered so. Hell of a pedal eitherway.
Never thought of a PG for my basses, but I've definitely considered one for my 7 string guitar. The quote I got for a standard pearloid PG was $70. Too steep for me for just a piece of plastic with no real customization.
Per the recent modulation discussion - flanger or phaser? Typically, I have liked the flanger more, but I'm really digging the thick syrupy tone of my old DOD Phaser lately. Not an important question, really, but a fun one.

I just happened upon it on one of those Facebook doom kid gear pages. I didn’t know much about it tbh, but I watched a video on it a friend did and basically if you max the bass mid and treble, it kills. I had been searching for an amp that agreed with my aluminum bass, and this nailed it.
Zdora is super accessible on Facebook and he was talking about making a pedal version. The 78 knocked my halberd off the board, but I just played my friends v2 halberd through it and it killlled.
The 190 was also a game changer for me. The Matamp is now my “backup” amp and I’ll likely sell my meatsmoke. It’s just low powered enough to where I neeeed to bring both cabs….sorta

I have been listening to this album the last few nights to relax/fall asleep to…
REALLY love the second track on this album (although I would argue that the whole album seems pretty epic):
I think I like what I’ve heard from them because it still sounds pretty structured and has some Thrash/Death Metal vibes to it, but it can also get almost atmospheric at times…
If you don’t have time for the whole album, I really dig this track:
iTunes kept suggesting them as a similar band to Steel Bearing Hand…
I still really like Slay In Hell by Steel Bearing Hand so I’ve been looking for similar sounding bands…
Suffering Hour seems a little more experimental and a little more progressive by comparison…
No idea if others here will enjoy this, but I really like what I’ve heard from them so far…
If you need something grim to chase away Winter Blues I hope this will help…

Yep, I have that Suffering Hour album. For something similar, off the top of my head, try:
This stuff generally leans towards black metal. If you like more of the death metal side of things I could probably make some recommendations in that department as well.
Steel Bearing Hand I'm not familiar with, but it definitely has punk elements to it. That immediately brings to mind Darkthrone. They're most associated with black metal but if you take their discography as a whole I feel like there's way more punk influence than anything else. If you jump around their discography you'll hear all kinds of stuff, some of which you might dig.
Perhaps most importantly, have you heard Bolt Thrower?
A Demeter 300 watt tube power amp keeps popping up on Craigslist locally. I’m tempted every time until I remember it weighs 85lbs on its own.

I really like flanger. But my phaser experience isn't too extended. I had a JAM Pedals Ripple Bass, and that was a two stage phaser, which is way too subtle. I do not like subtle bass effects. Same thing with OD, never hold on to OD pedals, because I want extremes, not just a touch of grit (which is a lie, but my Olympic preamp adds some tube grit). Anyhoo, flanger is more extreme, so I like flanger more
Whenever I think of something that is both groovy and insanely heavy, this is the track that comes to mind. Love some Bolt Thrower. Jo Bench is criminally underrated and the reason I now have a PD7. Her tone is simply immense, and everything is just no nonsense, but it just plain slays. Still wish they were around, even though Memoriam is basically Bolt Thrower 2.0.
Anybody know other bands in a similar vein to Bolt Thrower?

Also interested in anything like Bolt Thrower. I've never heard Memoriam...giving them a listen now!
If memory serves, it's most of Bolt Thrower reformed into a new band. But no Jo Bench or drummer.
