Damn I miss that game! I still have the CD for that and Morrowind. Since my Xbox went kaput 8 months ago, I haven't had time to game one ounce.

Edit: I need to dig up D2, that's perfect for early morning before work coffee and games. I need to start playing my SNES again too, the hassle of keeping the stuff safe from my kids every time I put it away though has held me back a little...

The only games I've played lately have been old LEGO games on Xbox (both OG and 360). It's fun time with my 5 year old son, and we both enjoy them for what they are.

That’s an interesting assessment bc I’m not sure this qualifies as “two” pedals since one is a Wah and the other is a non-wah pedal…

From a functional standpoint they have two separate intended uses…

Yes, I’m attempting to enable your pedal buying habit, but hear me out- Technically you can’t accurately play the intro to For Whom The Bell Tolls or (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth without a Wah pedal, so I would personally argue that the Wah is a mandatory addition as it’s core functional design is intended for a different purpose than your other pedal…

Open ended question (with no wrong answers) here…

I never was able to see Pantera live, but they are still one of the most influential/favorite Metal bands of all time for me…

I suppose growing up in DFW didn’t hurt since the local hard rock and Metal radio station played them constantly due to them being a hometown favorite…

Was listening to CFH last night as I was falling asleep…

My question (promise I’m getting to it): Do you think that CFH qualify as a Thrash album or do you consider it part of a separate Metal sub genre (and if so I’m curious where you’d classify it)…

Other 90s albums they released fit more into a Groove Metal genre for me-I’m not saying there is “no” Groove like Metal on CFH, but overall song structures especially on songs like Domination seem more in line with Thrash…

If it “does” qualify as a Thrash album in your book (and I personally think it does in my book)-Interesting to think that they changed from Hair Metal to Groove Metal but did it by going thru a Thrash Metal gateway for one album, but they didn’t end up staying there bc I feel like they split off/evolved into something else entirely (and I would argue that’s probably for the better)…

This isn’t even my favorite Pantera album (that would be Far Beyond Driven), but still an interesting combination of genres colliding and intersecting on this album as Phil was still trying to sing like Rob Halford and songs seem to follow a Thrash structure, but you can still hear some groove to the songs and you can still sort of hear what they would eventually evolve into…

Wondering what others think of this album in terms of where it should belong from a sub genre classification standpoint…

There's a ton of games I've been nuts about, D2 was for sure one of em. D3 was damn good, and maybe it's nostalgia, but I think I prefer D2 by a bit of a margin. Bethesda's got my number though, such a sucker for their games.

@br1qbat, Morrowind is still the poopie! I have played through so many times on PC and a few on Xbox. If the graphics were as good as modern games, I feel people would go nuts over it still. I haven't played it in years, but I need to hop back in it. I remember spending hundreds of hours creating houses, fortifications, islands and such in the construction editor for PC too.

@Tendril, welcome to the dark side. Let the pedals pile up! :laugh:

Try best buy geek squad if they still exist. Might not be the cheapest, but I'd imagine it'd have a solid backing guarantee. I had one of the first batches of the 360 (bought used) that lasted for years before being too abused and doing the same. What sucks is it dhit on the hard drive too so I ended up getting an Xbox one which just cramped. The way it died though is supposed to be an easy fix, haven't had time.

I can just play through or speed run, but at heart I got nuts if I don't complete as much as possible.

Yeah only time I get nowadays is when I get up early. For a while, and hopefully again, I'd be able to get a good 30min a morning if I wasnt busy.

It was a shot in the dark. It's crazy how different EQs can sound. Based on that and your video, sounds like the tk421 is probably shelf style for lows and highs. I wonder if it's baxandal style, where you can cut both to gain a mid boost? Ah but without a master volume, it would probably be less than unity.

I was also probably way off, after listening again, the highs on the tk421 are probably much higher than just 1.5k.

According to the website the mosfet section is a bit more scooped than a normal Rat

However, it's mostly the smoothing in the upper mids that make a difference, especially at 18v.

So I re-strung my Squier VI with baritone strings and tuned it A-a. I like it a lot more acoustically as a baritone than I did as a bass, but on a first drive with it plugged in, I still think the pickups or tone circuit are a bit ice-picky. Anyone got advice on some less treble-y pickups or changes to the circuit that might do the same? I know I can turn the tone knob down, but that seems to get muddy really fast.

You should! My kid is all about LEGOs. If it's not LEGO games, it's actual LEGOs, or one of the LEGO shows. I'm not complaining - gives me a reason to play with LEGOs too!

Maybe trying different pots? If they're using 500k at least? Though probably 250's, idk maybe 100k could work? Or try using some smaller caps that send to ground constantly to darken it up a bit? Or skip all that and use an LPF haha
