That’s part of the reason i’m kinda gassing for a solid-state backup to the Peg. Good SS heads are pretty much guaranteed to be ready to melt faces whenever you need them to.

While I agree 100%, I also know that if you make something "idiot-proof", there will often be an "improved idiot" coming along to mess it up. Sometimes, that "improved idiot" is me. Not often, but it happens! Thanks to this forum, my idiocy is consistently, if slowly, receding. I'm just happy to have my amp back in 100% working condition, and that the issue was figured out. I took it to a tech for this same issue a few years ago (before it was quite this bad), and he just told me it was "bad power". But considering it was the only amp that did this, and that the circuit for my band room is its own circuit with literally nothing else but the outlets the amps plug into it on it, AND that my engineer father and I wired it ourselves, I KNEW it wasn't bad power.

Actually thinking more along lines of an older GK, a Concert Bass, maybe a Peavey Bass 400. Something with its own cool thing going on. I’ve wanted one of those old Peavey heads for ages, ever since I played through a Combo 300 and loved the sound of it.

Ok then. GK 800RB. GK's have their own thing for sure. While a Quilter is more uncolored I still think it has a personality.

Also, for my most recent show, I benched the Superfuzz and used the Joyo Voodoo Octave [Foxx Tone Machine based] exclusively. It really was amazing. I like the Voodoo Octave's mid boost as stock its pretty scooped. But because I bi-amp, low end and lowmids on any fuzz don't make too much a diff to me.

I'm def a fan of the analog octave up [think 'Green Ringer' or EQD Tentacle] and now my minds swimming with ideas of building a green ringer and maybe a muff [triangle or rams head] with a mid boost switch.

It makes my V-4b a stoner/doom MONSTER. I just watch how much low end I make it push and blast the hell out of my mids, but there’s still enough low end to be heard just fine under 280 combined watts of guitars. I ran that amp really hard at practice yesterday though…. hard enough that part of my night was spent on Reverb looking at SVT’s. Probably not a necessary thing, and we were admittedly louder than we needed to be…. I just don’t wanna decimate those tubes before their time!

Yep, exact reason why I will never (hopefully) get rid of my ABM. It has a bit more attack and punch with my current cabs than my BTA, and is half the weight for when I don't feel like lugging the big guy. But yeah the bloom, power amp saturation and slam is real attractive of the BTA.

I can't help ya, but I can enable ya lol! Agreed about the green ringer, so great. I'm thinking about trying to get a tentacle + range master clone in one box. Cocked wah and octave in one box to enhance whatever fuzz flavor I'm wanting at that time. Probably gonna utilize RCO for that, quality that doesn't break the bank.
