I would rather not, if avoidable.
Used to hitchhike a lot in Santa Cruz between campus and town. Not sure I'd do it between the bay and Denver. Not even sure how I'd do it, actually.
The Donner Party got stuck in the Sierra Nevada mountains, not the Rockies, actually. Fairly close to where Highway 80 goes through now.
That's weird and cool about IRL Dale, though.
Speaker cones look vaguely like rocket engine nozzles to me.
I think these Kappalites are breeding when I'm not looking.....
I took greyhound from Milwaukee to Minneapolis, it was $15 round trip and took 7 hours, not bad at all, would do it again in a heart beat.
I for one am totally for making a national high speed rail system. I would rather do that than fly, may take a few extra hours but the views and a legroom are worth it. Could be cheaper as well.

Acoustic 220 head in a local shop, i forgot the price, something around $250 (canuck bucks). Do we know anything about these?

DAMMIT! So last night I went to go see a friend's band (not doom) have their first show. Bass player was playing a markbass rig that was some micro head sitting on top a 210. I swear to God it carried the whole doing loud rock and sounded great. I even asked the sound guy if it was just his cab or the PA too. I couldn't believe it. He was easily as loud as my Berg and sounded just as good in the mix. How the hell??
How loud are the drums and how much low end do the guitars have? It probably has a lot to do with the overall mix of the band. Some bands are much better at it than others.
The drums were pretty kicking. There were two guitars. One was a little low and sparse, but one was pretty raging. It was a show that I didn't NEED earplugs for, but almost. I was just floored how loud and clear it was...
Most guitar player i've been around have not been willing to change their tone to help the mix.

Had it a couple months maybe. I lived in an apartment until a month ago so it was only playable at lowwww levels or not at all. Now my house is old and stuff shakes when I play it, it causes lots of either speaker distortion or what I call "room distortion" so far. So I'm at my parents fixing up the alphabass tube head I bought then testing it into the dually to see if it's the cab/speakers (faitals) that are not as loud as I would think, or it was just my house causing the the issue with its sympathetic vibrations and quirks, or I'm going deaf.

I saw weedeater with a local band opener terminator 2, bass player, drums and noise machine guy. Their bass player had like the biggest setup I've ever seen. Like 8 2x15's, multiple 8x10's and svts, traynor heads etc lined up. He sounded loud, but then Dixie with his relatively small and underpowered sunn stack, and shep's white Marshall full stack blew them away with ease.
Markbass cabs put out little to no sub bass. Plenty of low mids though. If the bassist was smart with his EQ(cut bass significantly) he could have cranked it much louder than someone who likes more bass in their bass.
How about room placement? Where was the rig, in a corner?
I think some of those old SS sunn amps are a little louder then they are rated. The beta bass I'm useing is pretty loud.
Yep. This is why I've been using overdrive pedals and boosting mids. It's a little weird to eq my bass to sound more like a guitar, but sometimes that's what you need to do to be heard.
